Why is Dawson calling out an nearly 45 years old fighter?

    Don't get me wrong. Dawson is an excellent fighter. One of the best. :good

    Hopkins is a living legend. Still excellent at his age.:good:good

    But isn't it time for Dawson to start looking elsewhere? I mean common. The guy is calling out a 45 years old boxer. Like Hopkins still has anything to prove to anyone. :-(

    What's next? Klitschko calling out Holyfield? :lol:

    Chad needs to move on with his career. Fight Pascal, Cloud, etc.. anyone who's not just a few short years away from checking in a nursing home.

    If either Cloud or Pascal were anywhere near as good as Hopkins or could actually draw money, then you'd have a point. Since they arent, and they dont.

    You have no point. I dont care if Hopkins is 67, if he's the best he's the best

    I don't get the klit/holy analogy. holy isn't a PfP fighter nor in anyone's top 10 HW list. Klit also couldn't sell a Holy fight to the public. Hops is viewed as a top 10 pfp fighter and one of the top LHW's. Plus a dawson/hopkins fight will sell better than dawson vs any other lhw contender. If hops don't wanna fight young fighters in his class then why shouldn't he just retire?

    Because Hopkins is one of the top fighters and biggest names at 175.

    Fighters always want the big money fights, whether the opponent is 25 or 45.

    In this case, it isn't shameful to want to fight this 44-45 year old, because Hopkins is still a top fighter.

    Adamek stepped up, as did Haye. Chad wants to see if he could take the next step. I'd like to see this fight.

    He has called out Hopkins, Calzaghe, Kessler, etc, and no one has given him a call.
    He's just trying to get the big names, I don't blame him.

    Hopkins is the biggest money fight available, the most recognizable name, and outside of Dawson, he is the best fighter at light-heavy. So uhm.. yeah...

    What the number 4 ranked p4p fighter in the world?

    He has every right to, otherwise Hopkins can get his arse out the P4P rankings.

    WHO IN THE HELL SHOULD CHAD FIGHT AT LHW?? CLOUD AND HIM SHOULD FIGHT DOWN THE ROAD BUT CLOUD DONT HAVE THE DRAW POWER RIGHT NOW..ITS A BUSINESS AS WELL...

    BHOP IS AN AWESOME LHW THAT HAS BEEN BEATEN 1 TIME BY A VERY GAME JOE C.....

    CHAD WANTING BERNARD IS THE BEST WAY FOR CHAD TO GO...

    BUT IT LOOKS LIKE BERNARD IS MOVING UP TO HW SO HE WONT GET IT...HE ALREADY WHOOPED ON ADAMEK AT LHW HANDING HIM HIS ONLY LOSS BTW...CHAD HAS ALREADY PROVEN HIMSELF IMO WITH SOME SOLID VICTORIES...THE ONLY MAN LEFT IN HIS DIVISION RIGHT NOW WORTH FIGHTING IS BHOP WHILE CLOUD MAKES A NAME FOR HIMSELF AND THAN WE CAN WATCH THOSE 2 FIGHT.:deal

    I hear what you guys are saying. The other guys aren't big enough names. Not enough money, etc..

    But you see, the thing is. Everything you're saying about the other guys can be said about Dawson himself. The guy is NOT popular. He does NOT sale tickets and he does not put butts in front of the tv when he fights.

    So the very same reasons why he won't fight Pascal and Cloud are the reasons Hopkins won't fight him.

    My first reaction was to call this post ridiculous, but after thinking twice you have a point.

    It kind of reminds me of Pedro's great response after a nobody Yankees player started an altercation with him.

    Just substitute Dawson for Garcia and BHop for Pedro.

    NOT REALLY...Chad is actually a lot more known than Pascal and Cloud...he isn't on the level of a bhop or near the level of a floyd or a pac AS far as star power...but he is a fighter who can headline an HBO CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING OR BAD...

    CLOUD AND PASCAL WOULDN'T HEADLINE A HBO AFTERDARK OR HBO CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING WITHOUT A BIG NAME....CHAD DAWSON CAN

    I have friends who dont follow boxing but know who Chad is...those same friends couldn't tell u **** about Cloud or Pascal-I respect ur opinion and I see what your saying but I don't agree at all...Chad fought and beat 2 guys that are well known in Johnson and Tarver...Tarver is especially known in the states for his one punch ko of RJJ

After reading a few times I see what the thread starter is saying...Nice argument...I just disagree...I dont think there is anything wrong with going after the 4th best fighter in the world when ur considered the 10th best fighter in the world...PLUS BHOP COULD GIVE CHAD A HUGE PAYDAY AND IT WOUD DECIDE WHO IS THE BEST IN THE DIVISION POST JOE C....

    can u blame dawson for trying thogh? age has nothing to do w/ whether it's right for dawson to call out the other recognized top LHW but it does factor in to dawson's plan: hopkins ain't gonna be around for too long as he'll either give it up or will eventually totally succomb to age. pascal and cloud will be there down the road and the hopkins fight is simply a better/bigger fight right now than them.
