Why is Dawson calling out an nearly 45 years old fighter?

who's karim garcia? we know who dawson is. dawson has done enough to not be compared to karim garcia and enough to be given some respect and to 'approach' hopkins' level

Dawson is one of the more talented fighters in America and no one knows about him. Hate to say it.. but the sad fact is the majority of American sports fans doesn't give a **** about boxing. I have to admit other countries are much more passionate about the sport. So all these people that constantly make threads like "What if <insert popular European ESB-supported boxer> was American..." threads need to put a sock in it.

Being American is not a benefit in boxing, it can actually be a detriment..

The gap between Hopkins and Dawson in terms of popularity and recognition is much much larger than the gap between Dawson and Pascal, who can actually sell some seats.

Don't get me wrong, Dawson is an excellent boxer - but he is at the awkward stage in his career where the powerless, pure boxer is under appreciated because he doesn't quite have enough big wins yet on his resume.

This would obviously be a big step for Dawson, but I think Hopkins wants to jump up and take that HW title. It would be the perfect cap to a brilliant career. First a fight with Adamek at cruiser, then take on Haye and knock him out of the limelight.

It's true that if Dawson wants to fight Hopkins and get the payday that comes with it. He's running out of time. So in a sense. I guess he's doing the right thing for him.

definitely. but i understand your frustration w/ dawson b/c of the 4 fights w/ tarver and johnson. the tarver rematch was pointless and the johnson rematch would have been pointless also if dawson had simply fought a smarter fight the first time (as the result wouldn't have been that close).

I want him to fight Tavoris Cloud, I think Dawson should forget about the WBC interim and fight Pascal later. Honestly I still want to see Dawson vs Diaconu, that's why Dawson should fight Cloud to get the IBF title and than call out Diaconu.

According to ESPN.com, Richard Schaefer (CEO of GBP) wants to make Bute-Hopkins in Montreal.

    Sorry Chad. :patsch

Dawson is not a good draw, he can't draw flies. It is called Money.

I think Hopkins can beat Haye.

He can“t draw himself so he needs to fight somebody who does to make money. One reason I suppose. the other is simple: he just likes old men.

That's great, that means Dawson can fight the winner of Diaconu/Pascal II. Hopkins knows Dawson is very hard to negotiate with, shame on Dawson for being hard to negotiate with.

I have zero problem with this. Zero. Problem. I'd have to check but wouldn't the winner of a Dawson/Hopkins fight be Ring champ? That's worth it.

BHOP has earnt the right to fight whomever he pleases, safe in the knowledge that his legacy and ATG status are secure.

Dawson has no business demanding Hopkins fights him. Dawson is not the consensus no.1 in the division and he holds no belts. If he's the sheriff of the division (a laughable claim) then he should set about unifying the division rather than seeking out fights against middle-aged men old enough to be his father.
