Why is DeLaHoya still classed as star when he's lost all his fights to genuine class

    Why does DeLaHoya still get classed a star when hes never beaten a 100% world class fighter, everytime hes fought a star;

    trinidad, mosely twice, hopkins, mayweather

    JCC was a star

and before you churn out an excuse, think about the excuses that can go the other way too.

Because he didn't lose all of them legitimately

He certainly beat Trinidad and Mosley (in the second fight) whilst it could be argued that he beat Mayweather, and his sackswingers say he beat Mosley in the first fight as well.

The only fight he lost conclusively was Hopkins, but he was right in that fight until the killer body shot landed - though he wasn't winning it.

Well he 'beat' Trinidad, he 'beat' Mosley second time round. Oscar De La Hoya is a better fighter than Mosley. Fact.

He is star, you don't have to be undefeated to be one. Just ask B-Hop.

Define star? By the standard definition of star you would need to be missing about 90% of your brain to even consider an argument that DLH is not a star.

yeah Oscar has lost to some real bums :-(
i don't know how you can put trinidad and mosely twice on there and keep a straight face to be honest

also the word "star" generally means a famous, popular celebrity, which sometimes isn't the same thing as being a great fighter (or whatever proffesion) - although clearly is a great fighter as well as a star

I didnt say they were bums, totally the opposite, i meant that all his losses were against genuine world class, whereas you cant really say his win list has 5 wins of same calibre

Because chicks dig Oscar, and so he has 'crossover/star appeal.'

    That's about it.

If Oscar didn't have the mug that he has, people would be outraged that some part-timer was trying to sell a fight with a guy moving up multiple divisions to face him.

Do you even know the difference between FACT and OPINIONS?

Cause that statement is a ****ing OPINION - not a FACT! :patsch

Now get your FACTS straight. If anything - as Boxers - they're pretty much on the same level - with Shane pretty much taking on the better competition as of lately.

Well said. Oscar has lost strictly to nobodies, and therefore should be relegated to being below the world title level.

    Ha ha ha :good

I'm not a hater, Oscar is cool and I wish I had about 1/1,000,000th of his money. Just telling the truth. Oscar's a good-looking guy with a good background story (Mom, Olympics) and that's why he's gotten the majority of what he has even after the Mosley and other losses.

He's box office, no real way around that.
