Why is Deontay Wilder not embraced in America like Ali or Tyson was?

You cannot compare Wilder to legends like Ali and Tyson.

When Tyson won the WBC title against Berbick, he went straight to business and UD’ed Bonecrusher Smith for the WBA title. Then he went on to claim the IBF title against unbeaten Tucker, before destroying unbeaten Biggs. THEN he became the ONLY guy to KO ATG Larry Holmes, before almost killing unbeaten lineal HW champ Michael Spinks. Add the dangerous Frank Bruno if you like. The point is, Tyson became the KING in a weak division, but a King nevertheless.

And Ali? Please, the guy had his prime cut short, and still have the deepest record in HW history.

They sought to be the very best!

Wilder is a paper champion with a great right hand, nothing more.

This is rewriting history. Muhammad Ali was vilified by half the country for the majority of his career.

When he turned pro, he was seen as arrogant and most wanted to see him get his head knocked off. From 1964 to 1975, the Nation of Islam was considered a radical organization by even the US government, and Ali was one of their chief spokesmen after they murdered Malcolm X for breaking with the group and speaking out against their leader. And when he refused to join the military, most of the country saw him as a draft dodger.

Can you imagine if Deontay Wilder joined a Muslim organization today that called for the separation of whites and blacks and called all white Americans DEVILS?

Ali was "charming?" That's comical, at best.

People started softening towards Ali in 1975, after he regained the title from Foreman and the last troops left Vietnam. And Ali started to do TV specials and began showing up on variety shows like Sonny & Cher.

For basically the first 15 years of his career, Ali wasn't even remotely liked by most of the country.

Deontay Wilder is 10 years into his career. By this point in Ali's career (1970), he wasn't even allowed to box because he was considered a draft dodging traitor who was a high-profile member of a anti-US terrorist organization.

    Charming?

And 10 years into Tyson's career (1994), he was out of boxing and in prison for ****.

Like I said, Wilder's doing fine. Rich. Famous. Unbeaten.

Wilder will make his ninth defense of the WBC title next month. Tyson only had 10 successful WBC defenses in TWO reigns.

And you're praising Tyson for fighting Bonecrusher Smith? Did you see that fight? (Christ.)

Wilder is an all-time great heavyweight champion. Don't kid yourself.

It is popular, it just happens that Wilder is a highly protected Michael Grant, who just dumped 100 mil into trash can.

Wilder is Michael Grant like Mike Tyson was Cliff Couser.

Don't be a clown. Wilder is making his NINTH title defense next month. He's fought Two of the top four (other than himself) heavyweights in the Ring ratings in his last two fights and had them on the floor FIVE TIMES in total. And every time he fights, the offers continue to increase.

He's the most famous boxer in the world, the most exciting fighter in the world and the most dangerous heavyweight in the world.

    Deal with it.

    Everything I said was true.

Is he not making his ninth defense next? Was he not named the most famous boxer in the world by ESPN? Did he not fight two of the top four (excluding himself) Ring heavyweights in his last two fights and floor them five times in total? Do the offers from competing networks/promoters go up every time he fights?

    You can't "troll" with facts.

I'm stating facts. You compared one of the most successful WBC heavyweight champions in history and the most famous boxer in the world right now to Michael Grant.

    Now that's trolling.

He's the WBC heavyweight champion. One of the most successful ever to wear the belt.

Because Wilder has the boxing skills of a barroom brawler and that is obvious even to most casuals.
