Why is Deontay Wilder not embraced in America like Ali or Tyson was?

Because Tyson and Ali were actual champs. Wilder is a paper champ. It's quite simple.

hes made one crediible defence, fury. which is the equivalent of drawing with trever berbick.

dont try and pretend that ortiz is some kind of valid hw defence. and its his best win! a 40something man....dont mention ali and tyson in the same sentence!

Luis Ortiz, a year after getting knocked out by Wilder, is still a top-five heavyweight in the Ring ratings.

And Tyson Fury is Trevor Berbick?

You guys or total clowns. I swear.

For the record, Wilder is about to make his ninth defense of the WBC belt. Tyson and Ali made nine successful defense of the WBC belt in their first reigns, too.

And, since we're talking about it, I doubt Wilder would've had much trouble with the "Back-spasming" Floyd Patterson, "Lewiston Liston" who went looking for a spot on the floor in the first, Cleveland "Bullet Hole in his stomach" Williams, Henry "The Bleeder" Cooper, Brian "No Chin" London, Michael "Having a Panic Attack" Spinks, Tony "I Did 20 Lines of Coke and Broke My Hand in the First Round" Tucker, or "Bonehugger" Smith, etc.

In their first reigns, Ali and Tyson never successfully defended against a 6'9" 250-pound fleet-footed Lineal champ or a PED-taking Cuban knockout artist looking to take their heads off.

So I wouldn't be so dismissive of Wilder. Wilder is doing just fine.

Rich. Unbeaten. And the MOST FAMOUS BOXER in the world.

Both Ali and Tyson were more hated thru their careers than embraced...........one for the Vietnam war, the other for **** or biting .......plus both displayed bizarre behaviour in interviews........check out Ali's stance on race.

Fighters should be judged by their in Ring antics not out side of it.......both Ali and Tyson failed miserably when it came to life out side.

Because it is painfully obvious that the better part of his career is a sham.

Lol@ the opening comment "There was a time HW meant something in America" You are comparing Wilder to arguably 2 of the biggest names not just in boxing but sports. You will be hard pressed to name another sports star that is more universally known that Ali and Tyson. from Africa to Americas to Europe to the Middle-east everyone knew them. You can't say the same thing about another sports person. And its such utter bs to think Americans know who the HW champion is, Do you know how many dozens of American HW's no one even knew or cared about lol - Off the tpp of my head Pinklon Thomas, Weaver, Dokes, Tubbs, Page, Mercer, Moorer, Tucker, Bentt, Rhaman Sheldon, McCall, Bryd, Ruiz ...I could go on and on...

OP do yourself a favour and never post when drunk lol

Quite simple really! Boxing has devolved to a fringe sport in the US in terms of popularity among sports fans....2nd the dwindling importance of the HW title, by the ABC organizations make him less than the champ. Ali was the champ during the single champ era, Tyson also became larger than the sport in the US but also unified the division. Wilder while pretty good has not even become the man yet. An ABC belt does not equal being champ. But even if he does it won’t matter in the current US sports market.
