Chambers vs. Seth Mitchell would be a great all-American fight between top contenders. :bbb If Mitchell wins, he fights Wlad, if Chambers wins, he fights Vitali.
No. Solis never had any potential as a pro, and Chambers has ALWAYS been the better pro boxer. By quite a lot. Great amateurs are not necessarily destined to be great pros. Look at Hank Tillman.
There's a valid point here, wrapped up in wrongness. "Just because someone's a small heavyweight doesnt mean he belongs at cruiser." That is a valid point. It doesn't apply in Eddie's case. Yes, he's got a bit of a naturally endomorphic thing going on and could probably never look like an Adonis without doing some really unhealthy and unkind things to his own body and being in no fit state to box. HOWEVER. He could wear 195 or so like a glove, and would no longer be the small fish in a big pond. His pop would actually get guys' respect. He could move a bit more swiftly, and for longer periods, with less drain on his stamina. He would be VERY successful at cruiserweight, and that should be pretty obvious to anyone. We're talking about a one stone difference from his most effective careers weights, and the toll of losing that stone would hardly ravage him in any way. It would NOT be the same as Chris Byrd draining himself down forty pounds (at the age of forty!) to get beaten up by an unknown.
:thumbsup At Heavy the best he's going to do is a National or Intercontinental level title. I'd like to see: Chambers vs. Arreola for the USBA Winner vs. Fury for an Intercon title Intercon vs. Povetkin (I know Eddie wants the rematch, has talked about it many times)
IMO yes they should if they don't wanna be at a big disadvantage, and Chambers is a decent HW but he could be a great CW.
Because he could easily drop another 10-15 of residual flab and still be in great shape. Because he'd be COMPARATIVELY much stronger and more powerful in divisional context at CW than he is at HW, and would lose no significant musculature shedding the dozen pounds it would take to go from his Dimitrenko shape to making the CW limit. Because he'd be even faster than he is at HW. It isn't about "Oh, if only Chambers was ripped with a six-pack". He can probably never look like that, without starving himself but for PEDs and icky shakes. He's got a bit of that endomorph thing going on - that's fine. Allowing for that, he could still rock 195-199 and benefit from it. He'd still be a chunky ****** at Cruiser. No big deal. What he would gain is a little bit of speed and more comfort of movement (less jiggling, less aerobic strain) - and more importantly he wouldn't be anywhere near as feather-fisted. His stiff accurate jabs would be landing on the chins of mere cruiserweights, not guys outweighing him by 30+ lbs. Why do so few people seem to easily grasp this? :huh
first of all if he is 220 he aint been been training. the last guy that was 210 or less that had success against big guys was Holyfield and you wont see that again.... if your goal at heavyweight is to be pretty good at 210 pounds while never having a shot to beat any of the current champions then he should stay. if its his goal to win some world titles and make the cruiserweight division relivant again, drop 10 pounds. chambers can beat most guys at heavy, but not the elite...he is out sized, out gunned, thus pointless This content is protected
no, i would say eddie would probably have a belt if both klitschkos werent around...but they are... as i said, he can beat most all out there, but these guys have been champions forever it seems... Dimitrenko is horrible...props to eddie for beating him....but he sucks and has beaten no one in almost 40 fights....brock? he is and was a part time boxer....and he did clown Peter.... but chambers is almost irrelevant now because he doesnt even fight...
i agree Brock was a highly regarded amateur as you said..as a pro he simply never did much..his biggest wins were against McCline, the Black Rhino, and 21-0 Timur Ibragimov..... i was never sold on him.....
