Everyone just says Ward beat him and I think that's mostly BS. there was a lot Alvarez did right that Ward wishes he did. He took a manly beating in round 4 and taunted Kovalev and talked to him and never backed down. He landed the most Clever Jabs on Kovalev I've ever seen. He landed combos and to the body and made Kovalev work extremely hard.

A little credit is owed to the winner of the fight. It's not all about "Kovalev is no good anymore"

He's definitely getting some credit - now he's in the conversation of the best LHW (whereas previously he was just a good contender), and some here have even suggested that he's close to the top 10 p4p lists.

I clearly missed it in this forum. he's def not top 10 p4p. He for sure has the best Resume at 175 and beat the guy that was said to be the best. Kovalev had a long reign on Top. So, no p4p yet.. he might not get there.

I give full credit. Great breakout performance. Want to see more of him.

Kov may or may not be what he once was, but he was still a very dangerous proposition for anyone at 175.

It’s the same Soviet worshipping clowns who didn’t give Ward credit either.

I give him full credit. Heck I even said Krusher is washed up and past his best and should retire.

I mean the only way to beat Kova is to rob him of a decision or hit him in the groin, or wait till he’s older to beat him. Heck if Kova was 33 he would have knocked out Alvarez easy. Kova had too many miles on him, eventually your body and punch resistance starts faltering if you have been in the game for too long.

You mean wait till he bends over like a prostitute who just got 1000 dollars dropped in her lap yall complain about a low blow but then dont mention that that was the only place to hit kov cause his head was bent over to wards dick I mean where the hell was he supposed to swing at let him just stay chilling on his dick till he recovers? Cause and effect yall idiot's want to mention the effect with the cause the effect definitely is low but the cause is kov bending over illegally same way yall used to point out it was illegal when floyd did it but now poor kov shut the hell up

I haven't seen much of Alvarez and was excited to see the fight. I've actually seen him in person at some of the events in Toronto and noticed that hes a real big guy especially considering hes just a light heavyweight. I was very impressed that he beat Kovalev and I honestly don't buy that Kovalev is shot. Maybe hes not as good as he used to be but I think Alvarez was just the better man that night and proved hes one of if not the best light heavyweight in the world right now. Hopefully he fights Stevenson who has actually declined I always felt he was the best in his day but still is very good. It would also be good to see him against Jack or Beterbiev.

He's got tonnes of credit. He's in the conversation for who the best LHW is today

For my money the man at the top has to be Stevenson again, none of the other title holders really compare to his reign.

But after Stevenson we have the likes of Beterbiev, Bivol, Jack and now Alvarez so he's right up there is the convo right now.

I don't but he proved he is tough. He took a lot from Kovalev and came back. I think he is going to be something special.

I think most here gave him credit...surprised how he dismantled Kovalev, you bet, he put on a great display of boxing & true grit whe Kovalev turned it on, he weathered the storm & won fair & square. he was the better man on the night...can he do it again...If kovalev prepare as he should I reckon it will still be a 50-50 fight, maybe 51-49 to Alvarez... TBH I was /am impressed with him.
