Why is Eubank-Benn a PPV? Why all the media hype?

Casual fans like a good story to follow and an exciting fight at the end of it, the juniors are giving them that. It’s probably more satisfying than following two world class boxers pussyfooting around eachother for years, talking about A sides etc, trying to build enough interest to take a risk.

    Lara is freaking ancient.
Eubank is nothing to brag about, but he easily beat the older versions of Abraham and DeGale. Those fights were a while back, but it shows that in his prime Eubank was significantly better than those two, especially Abraham.
Hell, Lara got himself a gift draw against Castano, and lost to Jarret Hurd in a war.

Personally, I think that Szeremeta and Smith were past their best when they fought Eubank, but Eubank did dominate them both. Well, he dominated Smith in the rematch. So Eubank has fight left in him. The last time Lara fought anyone even in the top 20 was back in 2019, but I guess we will see just how far past his best he is as he is facing Janibek next.

Adames is straight up ass. He only got the draw with Sheeraz due to Sheerass injuring his hand after dominating Adames with ease in the first 6 rounds. Adames also got two gift decisions in his wins over Derevyanchenko and Gausha. And lastly, Patrick Teixeira of all people beat him with ease.

I dont necessarily favor Eubank to beat either, but I give him a good shot at doing so. I dont see how either of them are that much better.

    Hi Buddy.
I know what you mean when you say " competitive " and most of the pundits keep saying how " close " the fight was, but in reality it was far from close, Eubank won by 8 rounds to 4 on all the scorecards, how is that close ? if they were on the undercard, and first fight of the night, the fight would be seen as a fairly good fight but there would be no clamour for a rematch, it's the names....

The fight was most definitely competitive. Even if you scored it 8-4, it can still be classed as a competitive bout. 8-4 is not as wide as it sounds, you swing 2 of the close rounds Conors way and you are looking at even scorecards. I remember not being able to split them after 10. 11/12 were for sure competitive but i was edging the rounds to Eubank just for the sheer output whether they were damaging shots or not he was working letting a crazy amount of shots go. It may have started with the names initially, but theyve certainly added more to it with everything outside the ring over the last 3 years and a gutsy display from both sides in the ring.

115-113 was a very fair scorecard to have, even a draw wasnt completely out the question. The general feeling was a Eubank victory, a Benn win would have felt generous but was certainly not impossible.

    A close competitive fight.

Haney-Norman is a fine matchup, several other decent fights on that card as well.

But you're right - otherwise there isn't much on the schedule right now, except for mismatches. It's disappointing, I was hoping for more good matchups made for December.

    Hi Buddy.
Thanks for your prompt and very concise breakdown of the fight, plus you make some tangible and valid points, I scored the fight for Eubank the same as the judges, albeit some rounds were close I will grant you, a win for Benn would I feel have been unjust, I watched again this morning and will concede it was a competitive close fight, let's hope this one is even better.

Not one mention that this show is a 'rematch' that did 'great' numbers earlier in the year.
