    It seems in every little boxing news story that everyone wants a piece of Pavlik. In fact most people calling him out aren't even in his weight class, Joe and Chad Dawson are 2 weight classes above him and both talk about fighting him. How many possible Pavlik matchups have we heard? Even heard people talking of Pavlik-Mayorga, Richardo would actually be killed in the ring, why even speculate this one?

    Like you said, they are in higher wt classes & think they would have a chance against this "one-dimensional" fighter who in reality would knock them cold as a pickle.

    Kelly Pavlik is in the transition of becoming a star ... and I think that he will brirng Boxing back to non cable TV.

    He seems easy to beat for them. Like Jetski said, he is seen as one dimensional with nothing more than a big punch. They probably feel that they are more skilled and that their size would get them through if he does land a bomb or 2. Plus he is a big name. There really aren't any names at 168 or 175 that will give that kind of payday

    A. Pavlik is NOT one dimensional
    B. He is not easy to beat
    C. Fighters see him as a star now, or becoming a star. Those are few and far between in boxing

    As an outsider you can see these things. Imagine that you were a champ 2 weights above him though. Don't you think that you would be confident enough to think that he would be an easy win?

    JC would have to fight at 160 to take his belts. Anyway I do hope Kelly gets big enough to get boxing on free TV more often. And I'm glad people think he's one dimensional because we all know he's not. He out banged the biggest believed banger at 160 and he out boxed the "better" boxer in Taylor.

    Joe is going to fight at 160? They would have to wheel his dehydrated ass into the ring on his death bed. It isn't your kipper you are smoking. Well, it could be depending on what you think a kipper is if it parallels your boxing insight.

    Kelly could walk in at 160 & he would KO Dawson at 175. Size has nothing to do with it. They think they can out-box KP & it just wouldn't happen. Pavlik is a smart fighter, who could figure any skilled fighter out to gain an advantage.

    They would be DOOMED taking him on. Can't wait to see those match ups. Then we'll see who's right & who's wrong.

    To answer the initial question.

    Everyone is calling out Kelly Pavlik because American boxing fans generally believe him to be something special which of course he is not.

    He'll carry on beating b-listers for a while in Taylor, Abraham, Miranda etc...

    Soon as he faces an elite like Calzaghe thats when the hype will end.

    Hype = Money

    He's the current 160 champ, the man of the moment it makes sense to throw his name into the mix.

    be honest the only middleweight match worth watching is Pavlik - Abraham and that won happen anytime soon.

    Calzaghe - Pavlik is a great fight.
