Everyone was bitching about cotto's cut eye & kesslers cut eye... where is everyone's complaining at now?

whats crazy is off all those 3 fights

    cotto vs clottey
    ward vs kessler
    guzman vs funeka

guzman's injuries altered the actual outcome all 3 of these fights by the most... and this fight is getting complained about the least.... strange..

How about Guzman's apparent ring rust? His hands have never looked that slow.

    or even that

ward was going to beat kessler regardless of the head buts
cotto vs clottey was going to be close as **** with or with out the cuts

guzman probably couldn't breath out of his nose... yet nobody is bitching... i mean i didnt really care about this fight but i definitely think the outcome would have been different if guzman didnt get busted up

Because the cut didn't mean ****. He had no power at that weight. He couldn't hurt Funeka. Funeka was takin EVERYTHING Guzman was throwing and not even flinching.

When you can't hurt a guy and you're mainly a defensive fighter and especially if you're going up against a taller guy with a serious jab, you gotta adapt.

And unfortunately, Guzman just couldn't do enough to win. Even without the cut, sure he may have put some more work in, but still, Funeka would have walked right through his **** and went to work on his ass.

the cut's happened in the 3rd round...

guzman was handling funeka easily in the first 2 rounds...

he was clearly a differnet fighter after his nose was literally leaking blood

I think his main problem is he had a couple of good rounds to start and threw his best punches but they bounced off Funeka, he needed to hurt him to give him confidence in that method of getting inside and throwing hard and fast.

He knew he coudn't keep up those assaults without tiring so he got caught up in a more tactical fight from the outside which always suited Funeka. Basically Guzman is not a natural coming forward, and even when he did he wasn't powerful enough to effect things and often got outfought in close too.

Funeka was just too big and powerful, and too skilled with it.

    Man, come on...

I could tell right away watchin the fight, I was like...

Damn Guzman's punches ain't doin ****. He's gonna be in for a long night.

Especially with a guy with a jab like that. And while Guzman was effective for a few rounds, like the majority of pressure fighters are (which Guzman was in this fight), he was just waistin his breath because his punches weren't affecting Funeka, who was getting stronger as the fight went deeper.

I'll give Guzman the rounds on activity, but in no way shape or form was he dominating Funeka.

He was just stealing rounds with activity.

And I'll give Funeka some credit too cuz his defense was pretty solid, and Guzman wasn't puttin in enough body work, mostly tryin to take his head off.

Even if though, I just don't think Guzman had the power to do **** to slow this man down.

That's the story of every Guzman fight. Weak foundation to build on.

yo if you guys knew **** about reading human's it was 100% clear that

    - guzman didnt respect funeka for **** (as a fighter)
    - guzman had very little interest in the fight aside from crossing the finish line
    - funeka really couldnt hurt guzman (even though he did) guzman still didnt respect the power

rewatch the fight if you need to..... you guys are going to call me stupid but Christopher Columbus said the world was round and everyone else said it was flat so...

Well yes and no. Guzman has immense skill, it's just that Funeka was a bad style match up for him, and the wrong guy not to have power against.

And Guzman did have a layoff...so ****.....either way though, like I said, bad style match up.

If he didn't respect him thats not a good thing, that just makes him foolish baring in mind he caught a beat down. And Funeka did hurt him, a lot more than Guzman hurt him. He hurt him by busting him up and also a short right stunned Guzman.

I was watching Funeka/Campbell for the first time the other day and knew Guzman was in some deep water. If Campbell didn't get knockdowns he was ****ed in that fight, I thought Funeka won it anyway. And Guzman was never likely to get knockdowns so had to outpoint this guy, thats very difficult to do.

I'm not callin you stupid. I respect you.

I got no reason not to.

But I do disagree. I think Funeka was hurtin Guzman and what Guzman was showin was bravado.

He's got cojones and I respect that, but it just wasn't enough...

A prime and ready Guzman might make this look like a walk in the park. I can't say that he wouldn't.
