Kirkland stepped away from what he knows best in his tko 1 loss fight. Different kind of training different kind of weight loss leading into the fight left him weak and unprepared. The knockdown at the start of the fight is not that unexpected for those that know boxing. It was a a case of Kirkland maybe being alittle unsure coming off a knockout loss and only two nothing fights between.

Kirkland will be a hand full for anyone at 154, in fact I would make him a favorite vs most.

Props to Amir Khan and James Kirkland for owning these so-called 'chin-checkers'. One 1st round knockout does not make a career. ****in Jack Dempsey was knocked out the first round, and went on to be a ****ing killer. To all the ESB chincheckers around the world........go suck a dick and lick every vein on it. Bitches.

Kirkland will always be a Julian Jackson glass cannon type.

He'll make for an exciting fight whenever he fights.

He's still the same fighter. Hasn't improved one iota. Will get outclassed or KO'd sooner rather than later.

You answer your own question. Credit where it's due!

Ultimately, with all his flaws, he's good for the sport and I'll happily pay to watch him

Many guys have not studied boxing enough. There are guys whose punch resistance improves as the fight goes on. I imagine that it has to do with adrenaline. To be honest he is one of those fighters who are most vulnerable in the first rounds of the fight. Most of his KD's have come in the first few rounds. It reminds me of Frazier, one of Fraziers only weaknesses is that in the first couple of rounds he was susceptible to being hurt and knocked down. Then after that, the punches that had him down earlier he just walks through them. Kirkland has that similar type of thing going on, but worst lol. Joel who hits impressively caught Kirkland with bombs, but it wasn't early in the fight.

He needs to improve his defensive.
