That was a entertaining fight with an unexspected winner but he did get rattled and knocked down by a pretty ordinary looking punch in the first round. Angulo was as punched out as I have seen a fighter trying to finish off Kirkland in the first round and he never recovered.

That said Kirkland deserves a lot of praise.

 

He just had a really good win over a guy who is as good as anyone at 154.
He might not be able to repete it, and there will always be questions about his chin. However tonight he won so give him his due.

Angulo was out of shape, and hasn't even really been in the ring much in the last couple of years. And he's not the best @ 154 right now by a long-shot. Get serious.

And you think Alvarez will let Kirkland do the same? Alvarez was trying to do a mayweather shoulder roll style vs Gomez in which it almost back fire but alvarez wasnt worry with gomez power in which he knows he can take out gomez anytime he wants too in which he did even though it was a bs stoppage. But if Alvarez face Kirkland, Alvarez will prepare way better and be a smarter fighter. I think Alvarez can beat Kirkland cause Alvarez is a better counter puncher and a better pure boxer. Kirkland still gets hit when he dont see it coming.
