Why are people saying Pac is too big for JMM? Well, JMM made the foray to WW once before. Once that fight was signed, many people said it was a joke fight and that Marquez was way too small for WW. After Marquez got outclassed, many again claimed he was simply too small for WW and that any elite WW(including Pac) would knock him out within 6 rounds.

So basically, you have a guy in Pac who has been fighting at WW for 2 years now. He's signing to fight a guy two weight classes below him, who looked terrible in his only other fight at WW, and whom everyone said is too small to fight at WW.

From what I understood marquez will train his usual routine and rehydrate to the limit.

EXACTLY - thank you! I wanted to post that pic but am on my phone.

Look at how drained he is. It's unreal that he only weighed like 2lbs more than he does now.

if both weigh around 144 we'll see an amazing fight. if both weigh around 150 we'll see a one sided ass kicking

Pac will be far too strong because he isn't going to have to drain the bejesus out of himself. He fought on even terms against JMM twice in divisions JMM was comfortable. What do you think is going to happen where Pac is comfortable?

It's more than just the two lbs. Pacquiao doesn't have to cut much weight to make WW. He's grown accostumed to fighting at the weight. He's fought guys way bigger and stronger than Marquez. Pac's power is also greater than it was when he fought at 130 and 135 lbs. So now you have a guy who is used to fighting at WW, with legit WW power, going against a LW who is used to fighting much smaller men with a much weaker punch.

EXACTLY! If anything, it's better for Marquez. He just has to deal with the bigger opponent, too. I think it will be similar as the first two as far as size goes, but it's the skill level that could be the deciding factor. If Manny is fresh and Marquez is too in decline, then Marquez won't be as competitive, etc.

You forgot the fact that Pac is not a legit welter himself. Take a look at the weights of the welters come fight night. Their weights will be in the mid 150's to 160's. Pac's fight night weight is the same as those of the JWWs like Tim Bradley and Alexander. Pac is really a JWW campaigning in the WW division. JMM's weight is also suitable at JWW.

As I said in my opening post:

I completely agree - I'm just trying to get to the bottom of those who say Pac is just 'too big', when in fact size isn't the issue here - the issue this is a 100% Pacquiao, and not one who has had to cut 15lbs.

Reg - do you think 144 is a decent weight for Marquez too? It means he also doesn't cut any weight at all. Obviously he doesn't wasn't cutting as much as Pac last time they fought, but he stll blew up a little. What do you reckon?

Pac has matured at the weight while Marquez hasn't. It's just a question of the body adapting.
