Because it would be a huge anticlimax when a true super fight is possible, much like picking Clottey as an opponent last time.

Truthfully, I wouldn't have a problem with this match-up in the future if the Mayweather fight gets made beforehand (although I would prefer Williams-Mayweather as a consolation). But the protracted negotiations with this fight is angsting me up something brutal, because I truly believe Pac-May will be an unbelievable fight, at least the first half of the fight.

I agree with your sentiment though, in that we're hating on a bunch of decent fights because of the 'super-fight' back drop - fights we would calling for in a normal year of boxing - but if we miss out Pac - Floyd, I'll be pissed big time and it will take about five Pacquiao-Margarito's to make up for it.

I would rather see Pacman vs Margarito to be honest, rather than bow to Mayweather's childish demands.
Margarito is a dangerous true welterweight and would be a glorious way for Pacman to retire as a top 10ATG.
Truth is, Pacman doesnt need to prove **** to anyone. He has earned his place as the greatest fighter of his era by fighting all comers. Its up to others to challenge him.

also, it would be a better fight than a May-Pac fight.

Margarito fights in a straight line ...doesn't changes style______________Pac and Company always find fighters that has been badly exposed and then try to say their the best....this guy doesn't even jab...who's going to pay to see this ****....If he thought his PPV numbers were low against Clottey wait until you see these numbers.

But it could be a good fight ...and if he loses this just makes Floyd looks even better.

Pac/Margarito will be a legendary fight. I agree with you. If Mayweather don't want this fight then we'll just have to do with boxing classics, like Williams/Margarito, Mosley/Cotto, Margarito/Cotto, Mosley/Margarito, Cotto/Pacquaio, and now Margarito/Pacquaio!!!:bbb:bbb:bbb:bbb

Maybe Mayweather is giving fans great fights by not being in them. :think

Clottey says Cotto hits harder than Margo, so did Mosley. If Cotto couldnt hit Pac cleanly enough, and when he did he was unable to stop him with 1 punch, then Margo wont land nearly enough.

Pac destroys him, quicker than Mosley, for the simple fact that he will throw more than Mosley.

This would be Pac-Clottey all over again, Margo will be a punching bag except this time, without the highguard defense.

Pacquiao's excuse for not wanting to draw blood is ridiculous, and any fight he takes other than Floyd will be a disappointment. But seriously, dude...Pacquiao is a natural 140lb fighter and Floyd is a natural and legitimate 147lb fighter now. I don't think anyone would honestly hold it against Floyd to not fight Martinez...how much more Pacquiao? Williams at 147 is arguably harder to argue against...maybe even for Pacquiao since he does hold the title.

    I think this guy summed it up best in Freddie Roach's ESPN chat today;

    alun white mountain (canada)

why bob arum is considering margarito to fight manny pacquiao? manny will not gain anything and its just doesn't make sense. who is margarito anyway?
    Freddie Roach (11:25 AM)

    I agree!

    http://espn.go.com/newyork/chat/_/id/32395/trainer-freddie-roach

Not even Pacquiao's own trainer wants this fight to happen. I highly doubt Pacquiao wants this fight either. Arum, Margo, and Mexican fight fans make up 99% of the people who want to see this fight happen.

Doesn't deserve the payday and also how the hell is he going to make 147. I don't even want to see PBF vs Williams. Rumor is that Williams is going to try to go down to 147. A slow ass Cintron was bobbing and weaving and making Williams miss, what would PBF do? I'd ratther see Pac go to 140 and fight Bradley or Alexander.

Pac will have a serious assignment with Margo. In fact, I think Margo would win because of the relentless style, the huge height advantage and capacity to give and take.

And I actually think Pac-Margo would be a more exciting fight than Pac-PBF.

And, yea, Cotto hits harder than Margo on a punch-per-punch basis but he isn't nearly as active as Margo and, most importantly Cotto is waay inferior to Margo in the damage-absorbing, chin department.
