Why is everyone still talking about Mosley?

In almost every thread about Pacquiao, Shane Mosely's name is mentioned. Why? In the debates regarding Pac's ATG status, everyone is saying "IF he beats Mayweather...and Mosley. To me, Mosley is and always has been kinda overrated. Does anyone else realize that this guy lost twice in a row to two different guys? Does anyone realize that he could have just as easily LOST those 2 fights with De La Hoya? (definitely the 2nd). Mosley is a good fighter, and a threat to anyone, but I don't know why is named in mentioned in any conversation about Pacquiao cementing his legacy, or even in "who should he fight next" conversations. Manny wouldn't get THAT much credit for beating a guy who is almost in his 40s, past his prime. That is a high risk, somewhat high reward, ONLY because of how high everyone like to rate Shane.

Don't get me wrong, I do like Mosley, I think he is a credit to the sport, but face it...he is overrated. He isn't even top 60 or 70 ATG. He got that huge win over Margarito, but check what notable wins he had 11 or so fights prior to that. (don't even mention Vargas, and how does someone as talented as Shane struggle somewhat with Ricardo Mayorga, of all people?)

Bottom line is, Mosley shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Pacquiao at this point, if for no other reason that Pac steamrolled two guys Mosley got beat by (technically, in the 2nd Oscar fight). The only people who deserve to is Mayweather and Marquez.

I agree.:good I felt the same way for a possible Mayweather-Mosley fight. Before he took out Margarito, the general consensus was that he was on the slide. After the Margs destruction, he's flavour of the month. He'll be old again once he gets beat.

If he is on the decline, Why don't they fight him?
Berto seems to be the only "WW" fighter willing to mix it up w/Shane.
(Williams need not apply, dude is a ****en middleweight)

I mean there is Clottey, But what does a fight Vs. him do for Shane?

If Shane beats Berto convincingly he's back in line in a big way. But if he loses...

No one cares for Mosely vs Mayweather fight. It makes very little money by comparison.

Shane is already accomplished and done. All Mosley wants now are a few big money fights and he earned the position to get them. I'm upset that Mayweather didn't fight him, if Mayweather didn't fight him to make a fight with Pac/Cotto winner then great but if not then I'll understand the criticism.

Its funny when cotto beat mosley everyone was crying mosley was SHOT.

Then his performance against Mayorga cemented the SHOT theory for many boxing fans.

But as soon as he destroyed the overrated tin can cheating margarito, suddenly it was the re-birth of christ within the WW division.

    It's ****ing hilarious:bbb

I don't knw what to say, Iam confused, only conclusion I can make up is the whole Welterweight Divsion sucks, they never been able to stop Lightweights from defeating them, which makes weights pointless, they should cut out Jr Weights and get it over with, their freaking pointless.

Mosley is the one BOTH Pac (at 143) and Floyd (who cries "call me out" but too afraid to answer Shane's call) refused to fight.

Sugar Shane Mosley is STILL the Welterweight Lineal World Champion until someone takes his title. There's no welterweight glory without beating the True Champion, and guess what - both Team Pacquiao (Roach: Floyd is the easiest opponent) and Team Mayweather (Floyd: I'd school Pacquiao) think the Pac-Floyd fight is easier than the one vs. Shane.

They are right though, look at the Margarito beatdown. But Mayweather-Pacquiao is what it is: the biggest fight in boxing AND an ELIMINATOR in the welterweight division to decide who to call out Champion Sugar Shane Mosley.

Mosley is not the true champ. There is no true champ at WW. The last true champ at WW was Mayweather. Of course, he got nothing but grief for beating the true champ, not WW glory.

Pac's a WW now and most people believe SSM & FMJ are the best WW's. Thats why people want Pac to beat them to establish his WW dominance. Beating Mosely would be Pacs biggest achievement so far.

He won't lose to Berto, he might have trouble with speed early but once he times him its gong to be a long night for Andre.

Mosely is a legit threat and if Pac beat him it would be another impressive win.

Mosley beat a solid fighter in collazo and when he beats the breaks off Berto Mosley will still be the man to beat at Welter! Not Pac or Money Gayweather but Mosley
