Why is everyone writing off Maidana so easily?

A couple of factors.

1. People hate Floyd, so a part of labeling a fighter a cherry pick is completely underrating their skillsets.

2. It's Floyd, no one gives anyone realistically a chance against him

3. I like Maidana, and this version of him under Garcia gives anyone at 147 trouble. Anyone. He's improved his boxing skills, has a decent jab, and is optimizing his power.

 

12-0...Mayweather...the return of Pretty boy Floyd...

Expect to exclusively see the jab to the body, the uppercut, heavy doses of straight rights, and lots of lateral movement...

Also Floyd will stand in the pocket and counter punch effectively when Maidana swings his wide punches and he will eventually walk Chino down, it will be rough in the first round or two with Maidanas coming out aggressive but after Pretty boy gets the jab to the body going and controlling distance this will be target practice...

I can't rule out an accumulation stoppage for Floyd, they will be calling him Pretty Money after this, there will be offense and defense in abundance...

 

I do too. Floyd's gonna have to fight. He's going against a guy who knows where his money lies. A lot of people go into the fight underrating Floyd. I know that sounds crazy because he's the best fighter in the world. But I think a lot of people go in like " how good could can he be?" Canelo found out the hard way, as did Guerrero.

I think the difference here is Robert Garcia. He knows how good Floyd is. He knows. They competed in the same generation and he;s been around Floyd long enough to know how good he is. He knows Maidana has no chance of winning a boxing match. He's gonna sick Maidana on Floyd like a pitbull. Every round he's gonna go into the corner to RoberT Garcia hyping him up. Telling him to go for it. Every round.

RObert Garcia's training is a very underrated element in this fight.

I actually think Floyd's gonna win, but he'll suffer the first knockdown of his career. I can see him getting caught with something. Unless he flat out brutalizes Chino.

 

Because Mayweather offered to let the fans pick his next opponent which was a poll between Maidana and Amir Khan. The fans picked Khan and he still picked Maidana becaues he is the easier opponent. Maidana is a slow plodder, gets hit way too much he's tough but not skilled. On paper he's a menacing force to be reckined with as far as marketing to the casual fans goes. Nobody wanted this fight to happen, heck not even the Khan fight, but Khan has the skillset to give Floyd trouble and when I say trouble I'm not referring to physical damage I'm referring to outpointing Floyd or at least making the fight a hell of a lot closer than this garbage fight will be.

It's all marketing, Maidana destroyed the heir apparent to the boxing throne, Floyd's little brother, they fight the same Maidana has the style to beat floyd, now Floy'ds going to avenge Broner...etc.... A whole bunch of crap to get casual fans excited while real boxing fans are shitted on once again.

 

Khan won on 1 poll. A poll he posted to his twitter and told his fans to go vote for him on.

Chino won on every other poll. ESPN, YAHOO etc.

If Maidana had not been chosen over Khan.

The argument would be "Floyd's ducking Maidana after what he did to Broner" "Khan doesn't even have a belt" "Khan has no power to hurt Floyd"
"Maidana's awkward style scares Floyd" "too much power, he's tryiing to protect that 0"

Whoever he fights, theres gonna be bull****. So he should fight who he wants.

 

Mismatch because take a look at all the betting odds,
Mayweather easy UD, no competition.... he doesn't fight the guys that are a threat to him.

Let's just all look forward to Mayweather's next fight against Amir Khan.

 

Is a haters tactic. If Floyd wins, they will say Floyd was suppossed to beat'em easy and his opponent was cherrypicked. And if Floyd looses, then they will say Floyd lost to a bum and he was never great. No matter what Floyd gets no credit

Anything can happen, a year ago we NEVER have thought of a Mayweather-Maidana fight and Next week is the fight. Mayweather-Maidana.

 

Maidana didn't even come close to stopping Devon Alexander, Kotelnik and even Erik Morales.

And he couldn't get Khan out of there who was literally on ***** street every other second of their fight.
