by fighters, trainers, managers, promoters, etc..... than he is by alot of fans? Ive always heard most all boxers, etc... give him mad props and it seems like they are appreciating him even more now that his career is coming to an end. Its like they realize that he's special, will soon be gone, and is a brilliant ATG. Meanwhile its the opposite with the fans. He's getting hated on more by the day. Do you think they will appreciate him more when he's gone? The funny thing is alot of these fans who dont like him or think he's overrated are fans of the same boxers who think that Floyd is the best now and one of the best ever
It's simple: popular fighters have the loudest detractors while they're still active. Floyd, Klitschko... The haters will disappear after they've retired.
Fighters are nearly always talking about his unique skill level. Whereas it is difficult as a fan to see past the fact that Floyd is a ****.
Fighters, trainers etc. know more about boxing than us 'forum' level fans haha.. I was thinking the same thing, I've been underestimating Mayweather. His ability to adapt is second to none, it's just as legit of a part of what makes him a fighter as his philly shell - that's a huge point. Mayweather will find a way to win. We're just pissed off about Pacquiao-Mayweather not happening, and his career from post-Castillo to Hatton.
Because the trainers, fighters etc knows it takes something very special to be that great. Meanwhile, you have keyboard warriors twatting away at their keyboards, trying everything to discredit an absolutely great boxer in Floyd.
B/C FLOYD IS A DUCKING MACHINE. WHY WORK SO HARD IN THE GYM AND PREPARATION IF YOU'RE NOT WILLING TO FIGHT THE BEST? Makes no ****ing sense! FLOYD IS THE LAMEST ATG EVER. ALL THE OTHERS WOULD'VE MADE HIM THEIR ***** BASED ON HEART ALONE.
Because they(fans) either judge him on character rather than supreme ability or are just not schooled enough to appreciate the fact that he's a pure boxer who is a master of defence. The sport will be poorer when he's not around.I used to hate the guy but never doubted his ability. Now I'm a big fan and feel privledged to be able to see his prime years.
People in boxing have always tried to act like they have more or "secret" knowledge of assessing fighters than other observers of the sport do. They're the same people who over-analyze fights like Tyson-Spinks or Hopkins-DeLaHoya and pick the underdog to win, when most casual fans rightly knew the favorite would simply be too much. I'll bet there were even some among them who picked Guerrero over Mayweather, when most casual fans rightly knew the former had a tailor made style.
Because fighters, trainers, managers, and promoters actually know a little bit about boxing. Also, they don't get caught up in Floyd's TV show personality; they focus on his boxing. Most of the people who dislike/discredit Floyd are manny pacquiao fans (the same pacquiao who used steroids or PED's to achieve success over shot-to-**** retirees).
Half of the forum worships him, most of the other half respects him. He's appreciated plenty. But if there's a discrepancy involved, it's because fighters and trainers are interested in winning and fans are interested in being entertained.
