Was on social media today, and news of Floyd Mayweather coming out of retirement went viral, but most of response was negative. Here are some reasons why I think he is hated -Domestic violence (big reason) -Arrogance and cockiness -Always flaunting wealth -"boring" defensive style of fighting -Beat a lot of people's favorite fighters I don't think he is a good role model at all, but as a boxer I think he deserves a LOT more respect. Yeah, he avoided some fighters in their primes, but his career is still worthy of high praise. He has defeated many multidivision world champions (including 8 division, 6 division, four division etc). He has one of the best defenses in boxing He is the most accurate puncher according to CompuBox He dominated for 2 decades without an official loss (some say he might have lost to Castillo, Maidana etc) Those that hate on him tend to belittle his achievements and treat him like he is some overrated cherry picking fraud when he has in fact defeated 23 world champions/former champions CONCLUSION -Yes Floyd Mayweather is a jackass at times -Definitely deserves more respect in regards to his career -Does not deserve to be called a coward or chicken
Canelo is worse in my opinion. Floyd’s style isn’t very exciting to watch and some believe he was careful about the timing of facing certain opponents. He does flaunt his wealth like a hip hop star. That may or may not just be a gimmick.
Most people dislike Floyd because of his perceived character. Personally I think its a bit more complex than what he shows, but he's still not that likeable. Anyone who hates / discredits Floyd's boxing abilities is an idiot or a rabid fanboy
His safety-first in the ring accomplishments aside, Floyd's inability to fully transition into manhood gives people a sense of dread about his future.
IV fluids and PEDs two totally separate things. Now so I think he was on PEDs throughout his career ? Absolutely. But not half as obvious as it was for PAC, JMM and obviously Canelo (caught cheating). This sport stinks
Not separate things at all. Athletes take IV fluids before testings because it can mask traces of PEDs see Lance Armstrong.
With me it’s because he could have left us with an unmistakable ATG career and Pac-esque resume...and I believe his skill set would have seen him through it. ... but money and safety and always looking good seem to be greater motivations than proving the absolute Zenith of his potential I know all the lovers will come in here and give me reasons why he couldn’t fight this person or that person but whatever, once you become the money man you can make it happen
I have only one complain against Floyd, which is his attempt to prolong his fight with Pacquiao to evade fighting the prime version of his opposition. I am quite positive that if the fight happened 5 years earlier, 3-4 years earlier the outcome would be different. Other than that, well he looks arrogant sometimes. But he is not really a jerk. He is a boxer of extraordinary talent and intelligence.
Because hes a successeful moron. "success . Its got enemies. You can be successful and have enemies or you can be unsuccessful and have friends."
He doesn't make it easy to like him & his style wasn't fan friendly but the fact that he mastered a style which was a nightmare to face & he always came in shape is very impressive.
odious turd who has no personality other than to flash cash and pay people to lick his arse. Rigged fights so the odds were always in his favour (making sure Maidana wore his gloves) etc.
Floyd built a business model that makes people hate him, so they tune and buy the PPV to see him get punished - which never happened. He took a page from Ali's book who pioneered the strategy of riling people up. Ali was revered after his retirement though; Floyd is despised and can't shake off the ghosts he called upon.
I personally don’t “hate” Floyd, he’s an ATG. But I cannot stand the man, whether it’s a persona or not, I find him very insecure and boring as ****.
