Why is FLoyd not as Revered as a Ray Leonard or a Muhammad Ali?

This is either a troll thread or an indictment of your embarassingly low level of boxing knowledge and history, not to mention common sense..

 

He doesn't have a fan friendly boxing style. That's all there is to it. Leonard and Ali were both very flashy in the ring and I suppose outside of it as well. I say if you're lacking in one department then you have to find a way to compensate. FMJ does this very well.

I really don't have a problem with FMJ's immature behavior as long as it's part of what makes him successful. He's good at what he does and it has to be something special because James Toney can talk trash until his ass falls off and still wouldn't be a PPV star like FMJ.

I'm surprised more young, undefeated fighters aren't at least trying Floyd's success plan. If Bradley was more vocal he might be able to sell that O of his quite well. Broner might be the next young, arrogant, undefeated PPV star with a loud mouth.

 

As many have already mentioned, he simply didn't man up and took on all comers like Ali and Leonard. Floyd had the skills and personality like them but lacked the resume. He could've had a GREAT resume in this great era of WWs but he simply did not take them on.

 

Ali and Leonard were also way more hated than Mayweather when they were active, they're loved now by everyone even former haters cause they realize no one like them has come around since and that'll happen with Mayweather too, 10-20 years after he's gone he'll be ranked far higher ATG than people have him now and he'll be far more revered, everyone is as time passes after they're gone..... it also comes down to boxing being wayyyyy more popular in their days. Back then boxing was one of the top 3 sports on earth, now it's down around #20, hard to be as revered when your sport barely erven gets mainstream coverage anymore. Also Floyd ain't a good talker yet he thinks he is and his lack of gift of gab and childish need to be overly sensitive and defensive makes him come across as a spoiled *****, but in reality it's the dudes shitty communication issues that kills him. Not to mention Floyd was brought up in the gangsta hip hop lifestyle and era, if **** was like that when Ali was around you can bet he'd be all over it, trying to be the biggest most pimpin G out there.....not Leonard though he was on some good guy ****, he'd be like Andre Ward nowadays

why is JCC Jr not as revered as his dad?

 

It's really simple. They fought the best and they gave fans excitement, lots of it. They were part of some massive fights that has gone down as some of the best in boxing history.

In order to prove your greatness, you must take on your nemesis or fighters that are considered difficult opponents. Give the fans a sense of danger. How interesting is anyone without them overcoming a difficult obstacle?

 

Had he did what Leonard and Ali did he would not be undefeated but would be respected more !

 

First off, Ali was hated by many people during his active prime. But nothwithstanding that

2 reasons

1) People dislike Mayweather's personality
2) Mayweather fights smart and with supreme skills, and doesn't get involved in dramatic back and forth slugfests.
