You're kidding right? Asking why Floyd is not respected.

He doesn't give out respect so he has done a horrible job gaining it as far as his character goes. I bet once he loses or retires, a lot of these "friends" he has won't be seen hanging around with him anymore. Damn, didnt 50 cent even drop him. lol

Most people dislike him for his Ali like antics... Though, I let it slide usually.

My reasoning: Opted to retire instead of fighting guys like Margarito, Pac, Cotto at the time of his 1st or 2nd retirement. Comes back cheats Marquez on the scales, fights decent competition but still avoids the fights we really want to see.

THEN he cracks on Pac for making Cotto drop 2 pounds for a catchweight... A couple fights later he makes Canelo drops 2 pounds for a catchweight LOL. I remember him calling Guerrero a hypocrit for having a poster of Marilyn Monroe on his wall, but Floyd is one of the biggest hypocrits I've ever seen.

Then he talks about how he's willing to go to prison though he didn't do anything and acts like he's so tough.. Only to get out and whine and cry about his time spent in there "30 days of May" or whatever it was called. "Nobody gonna tell me what to do, nobody going to do that to me..." on and on whine and whine.

Besides boxing skill, the fact he stays dedicated to being in shape, and his charitable donations.......... What is there to like about this guy? I don't care how much $ he has, I have no jealousy for his $ (though I'd take it in a heart beat) because this guy is as insecure as could be. Let's leechers all around him, does things to please them, I don't think anybody around him actually loves him really. Got to feel sorry for the guy in many ways, but dislike him for all the others.

He's highly respected by his peers(boxers, trainers).

He's highly respected by his loved ones(family, friends).

Whether or not you love him or hate him he's the highest paid athlete today. Meaning people may not respect the Money May persona. They damn sure respect his God-given talent.

At the end of the day, that is all that really matters.

Seriously, people havr to stop saying that mayweather drained this kid. Canelo`s handlers agreed to the weight as did Mayweathers so why is Mayweather getting blame. Is Canelo coming to the ring waying 151, no he isn`t he will be around 15 - 20 lbs heavier, so tell me again, is this fight really being fought at a catchweight?

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Has given the fans some crap fights before anyone remember Floyd vs. Baldomir? The Canelo fight might not have done over a million ppv without the addition of Garcia vs Matthyse. Floyd has had great moments his win of Diego Corrales which I believe Floyd was the underdog going into that fight but really lately Floyd is a creation of Media hype. You can tell that Floyd's been put thru Media And Public relation courses he has dropped the Philty rich ghetto attitude almost completely.

He is respected. It's just that some Margarito and Pacquiao fans don't think that he is.

His boxing skills are well respected by anyone who knows boxing.

General respect is more difficult to earn, and for the most part, Floyd doesn't have the personality to garner wider respect.

Additionally, he has disappointingly ducked fighters who would have substantially improved his resume. And the thing is, he would probably have beaten most or all of them.

    This and only this.

All the rest is pure bull****. Some of the haters are undoubtedly racists, while others come up with ridiculous lists of who he should have fought, but carefully omit to tell you just how these insignificant numpties will beat Mayweather.

    Because they can't.
