Eh, the Boston-Irish thing is overplayed in movies and the like.

Not to say people of Irish descent aren't still a large population here but they are nothing like the majority they were in past centuries (or that media still portrays them as). There are probably as many 2nd-3rd generation Vietnamese here as descendants of the old railroad or famine-era Irish families...and loads more South Americans.

They're scattered all over, those with Irish roots, but mostly concentrated in South Boston, which is a **** hole that nobody goes to if they don't live there.

So not all you see onscreen is the way things are in reality. Does everyone across the pond talk like the characters in Guy Ritchie's ****?
