Foreman was not a good ring general - being a good "ring general" is making other fight your fight, it didn't show up against Ali or Young? Frazier isn't a case of a "ring general" he would only fight one way lol and Norton... credit for forcing dead legged Norton on the back foot. If he'd forced Young into his fight that'd be generalship but he was a bull to the matador down to the "killing blow" in the last round (flash KD) lol.

Agreed. Tyson spent his whole career dismantling tall rangy guys with strong jabs like Douglas and beat multiple fighters as good as or better than Douglas, then inexplicably fell apart against Douglas himself. Tyson's entire style was designed to compensate his short height and reach to get inside.

Frazier on the other hand was always going to have trouble with big guys who could push him back and nail him with mighty uppercuts, but no one had seen a monster quite like Foreman. Frazier never dealt with someone similar other than Bonavena, who still had many differences.

 

You sound upset. You seem to give excuses for gold medalist adults getting dropped hard and brush over teenagers blitzing through the rankings.

Tyson was selected as the next heavyweight champion at an early age by the almost cult-like trained in D'Amato. The man famous for having previous youngest heavyweight champion of the world. Frazier picked up boxing to lose some weight and it clicked as far as I'm aware.

I would not hold the difference in progressing through professional ranks against Frazier, as much as I would perhaps praise Tyson's.
