I agree with this. I think Fury was underwhelmed with the purse once he learned the Saudis would not fund this at a huge loss in the way they would have with an AJ fight. It is a shame. There was enough money to make it happen but Fury was a bit greedy IMO. His opinion on what he should be getting paid is out of sync with his commercial appeal, which are quantified by the revenue he generates
I don’t think any boxer at this level is “scared” it’s more like avoiding exposure. Usyk is a masterpiece of boxing skills so the Big Man wants to avoid looking silly and exposed

Because if limited boxers like Steve Cunningham and John McDermott and even Deontay Wilder can close the distance and land knockdown blows then a heavy handed puncher with very good boxing ability like Joshua can certainly do it and do it more consistently. While a slick operator like Usyk could absolutely embarrass him, exposing his so called skill set as a myth, killing the ‘Gypsy King’ facade once and for all!
I’m not so sure that Fury beats Joyce Joe Joyce is that extremely rare thing, a Super Heavyweight that’s also a 12 round 3 minutes a round pressure fighter who just won’t leave you alone or allow you a breather. He’s also got great output, superb accuracy and hits hard but perhaps his major asset Vs Fury is he’s bigger, stronger and just as tall so Fury can’t lay all over him to exhaust him
Have you actually seen Wilder when he's not knocking people out? He's blessed to have the power he has and is able to end fights early otherwise his ability in the ring really is amateurish.
