Why is Gamboa avoiding Cab?

If he can't put asses in seats then $250K is not really a low ball offer. People forget that fighters are only worth so much in revenue. Sorry, but that is the way it is. When a fighter can fight a less dangerous opponent for the same or more money.........

Neither Gamboa or Lopez are afraid of Caballero. Caballero just its not worth the attention.

 

caballero was offered 250k to fight gamboa and gamboa wanted 1 million. just because he said he would fight juanma for free (which how many times have you heard a fighter say this?) doesnt mean he has to accept any offer given. so this is what i know after hanging out w/ pelenchin today....

1. those numbers are right
2. caballero is not going to fight for that much less than gamboa who is asking for a stupid amount and was told so by hbo. pelenchin said hbo was not willing to pay that much.

3. he would want something much more close to equal pay, but not necessarily even

my personal thoughts...

1. how much more of a draw would gamboa be than pelenchin? i am asking here, because it isnt like he is a household name either. pelenchin thinks the astronomical amount he asked for was because he doesnt really want the fight.

2. caballero is not getting younger. he cant be lowballed in every fight offer. if he lets there be that big of a pay difference now, he is getting screwed now and in future negotiations.

3. i PROMISE you guys, love him or hate him, pelenchin isnt afraid of any of these guys. he thinks he can easily take any of them.

 

that's just not true.. if he fights either gamboa or juanma for 250thousand and beats them his stock will go way up and he'll be able to ask double and triple that amount for future fights

i agree, and this is just my opinion, but if the purse is lets say 1.2 million, i think 700k gamboa/500k pelenchin would be closer to correct. also for those of you that want to rag on pelenchin for not taking 250k, gamboas demands for 1 million are just as big of a stumbling point. hbo just is not going to pay that.

 

It's true, he hasn't faced many Cab drivers thus far, coward.
