Why is GGG, Froch, Groves, or Chavez going to fight Ward again?

Ward just needs to fight again. Someone. Anyone.

He's in his frickin prime, yet he's in a courtroom instead of in the ring padding his record.

Because Ward is an excellent B-side. Fighting Ward when he is the A-side and the "main draw" when you have to kowtow to his terms really makes no sense.

But if you are the A-side Ward will maximize your potential draw because of his pedigree. Ward will help draw max money when he is billed as "The toughest / biggest fight for your favorite fighter" because he is #2 p4p, even though he cant draw flies to feces on his own.

Ward is highly rated p4p. Beating him would be great for their reputation and their all important resume. It's not all about the Benjamins for some of these guys but beating Ward would be good for their careers and future earning potential.

The winner of Chavez vs GGG certainly has the drawing power vs Ward and should be considered the A side.

You slag GGG for not fighting Ward, but would you?

You make far more money fighting Chavez. Honestly, if I'm GGG, I stay at 160 and fight guys coming up like Lara, just like Ward intends to do with GGG.

The difference is, Lara can't dicate the terms, but GGG, if successful against Chavez, should dicate the terms against Ward because he will be the draw.

I agree with you in that he should fight Kovalev NOW.

He fights Kovalev and WINS, he increases his stock dramtically and finds himself in a far better negotiating position in the future.

If he doesn't fight a guy like Kovalev who would be easy to fight considering networks, he might find himself on the outside looking in.

Look to Cotto-Martinez for an answer. The A-side is the bigger draw of the two, champ is being forced to be B-side and fights on.

Unsure how that would work out with Chavez-Ward, because you're not going to convince me Ward wouldn't REQUIRE A-side status even though Chavez is the draw. Ward's ego never got the memo about drawing power.

That's why the fight wouldn't happen.

Chavez would fight somebody else. He would fight Froch or Groves or rematch GGG if it's a competitive fight.

That's why Ward should fight Kovalev NOW, so he can strengthen his position (assuming he wins) and set up a huge PPV fight with the winner of Chavez or GGG.

Then Ward has PPV options at light heavyweight with Stevenson or Hopkins.

The only guy left out right now is Kovalev, so Ward should be jumping at the chance to fight him.

There are two flies in that ointment.

The first is that Ward will have to run inside and fight in his most boring style to beat Kovalev. Ward may well win the fight if Kovalev cant catch him coming in, but it wont be pretty.

The second is that Ward personally has wanted to move to LHW for some time, the weight is do-able but hard at 168. If he fights at 175, going back to 168 would be risky. Fighting GGG while drained would be unwise.

See u're already using boring as excuse for when ward beats the **** out of your hero. The main goal of fighter is to win. Its not wards problem if your guy can't fight on the inside.

I don't think Ward would have issues making 168 again.

The difference in Ward fighting at 168 is that he simply wouldn't have to cut weight.

That is not relevant to the discussion - TJ was clearly engaged in discussion about the business side of the matchups, and Ward fighting in that style will not increase his A-side PPV potential. If it did, he would already be a PPV fighter.

If you want to not be regarded as a complete moron, I highly recommend having at least a basic understanding of the conversation.

Maybe.. only Ward can really say for sure. But I saw a couple interviews where... he really seemed to want to move to 175. Do you think he would give up that much size to Kovalev?

I think if he goes to 175 he stays. But again, only Ward knows for sure.

Dude close your mouth. They said the same thing about Floyd, look where he is today. what's affecting Ward is inactivity due to promotional issue and injuries. Once he gets those things situated he will be where he's suppose to be.

Apples and oranges. Its true Wards inactivity is not helping, but still - you are the one who jumped in blabbing off from some odd hero-worship angle.

I think a Kovalev fight might go a lot like the Froch fight, where Ward gets the W but it doesnt exactly get the boxing world excited about his next bout. Its high-risk low reward for Ward, relatively speaking.

    If you disagree, fine.

Ward should just take a tune-up first, then fight winners of those two fights. It's ok when fans know a big fight is next.

    (inb4 'ward has fans?')
