Why is GGG the only fighter given a pass on weight?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by acie2g, Jun 10, 2016.

  1. Very broad statement that cannot be backed with facts.

Why don't you go down the line name off all the champs barring HW and let's discuss if every last one of them is being pressured to move up to legitimize themselves.

After that lets take a look at history and start downgrading accomplishments of HOFs and Greats who didn't move up.

    Its an image thing.

How is GGG marketed? As a KO machine!! Even heard HBO make a Mike Tyson comparison

No way they will risk GGG look vulnerbale, and no way does GGG have the desire to get into a risky fight.

GGG is very talented, cannot deny that, but he lacks something that other greats have had, and that's the competitive heart to test yourself.

If he or any GGG fanatics believe KO 30+ bums is a test, then you are fooling yourselves.

He'd mess up Canela. You lost all credibility a long time ago. Everyone knows you're a clown now. :hi:

    Wow, :patsch

Talking about it like Canela wasn't in the same division as Golovkin. Golovkin needs to fight a LHW now? :rofl

Most of the guys who needed to move up Ward/Crawford were big for their division and had to cut a lot of weight. GGG is average or small for his division and appears to make weight with ease. Ward has the measurements of a light heavyweight, which is what he fought at in the Olympics. Crawford is a natural welterweight, which is where he'll probably end up some time in his career.

Add to that Golovkin already has moved up two divisions, he just did it in the amateurs, and asking Golovkin to move up into divisions where he would be undersized and at a massive disadvantage doesn't make sense, since he's already going to be fighting guys bigger longer and heavier than him at 160. Then you have the problem of unfinished business. Ward and Crawford had beaten all the top ranked contenders at their divisions before moving up. Golovking hasn't done that yet. People want to see him clean house and prove himself more.

Why should he move up ?

There are only two or three bigger names at SMW
DeGale, Ramirez and maybe Jack and they will all become bum's if Golovkin knocks them out
A fight with Canelo would be much bigger even a Jacobs fight is probably bigger

Golovkin has to move up or down in the future but this year he sould try to fight Canelo, Saunders or Jacobs @160 and unify all the belt

Thats the stupidest thing i ever heard. Do you call yourself a boxing fan?

The greatest match ups of all time would never have been made if it wasn't for fighters jumping weight divisions.

Ward was smaller than Froch who is a true super middle and never had trouble making 168. And he looked tiny next to Sully Barrera.

Ward being a natural LHW cos he fought at LHW in the ams in the dumbest argument on the forum. Different weights. He was closer to MW than LHW. MW being a weight he fought at early in his career.

so because Ward fought a few fight at middleweight 10 years ago he is/was now closer to MW than to LHW :patsch

If the thinks he is a SMW then he should fight real SMW like Ramirez and DeGale and not talking about fighting middlweights @ SMW

But the fans want to see the big fights which are @ LHW with Kovlaev, Stevenson and Beterbiev
