Why is GGG the only fighter given a pass on weight?

Back then yes. The argument is Ward was a LHW as a little boy in the Olympics , now now. . Are you stupid or something?

No one should have to move up.

It is a good way to prove greatness.

Ideally a man unifies before moving up.

Let the man clean up and collect all the belts and then decide :hi:

You made some fair points, but I cannot agree that GGG lacks the desire to get into a risky fight.

Back in 2012 he had signed to fight world title holder Dmitry Pirog. This was definitely a very risky fight, Pirog was a superb fighter who would've tested GGG if not beaten him. A potential p4p level fighter imo. Pirog subsequently got injured and the fight was canceled.

The only realistic risky fight GGG hasn't pushed for was Andre Ward, another p4p talent who is also bigger than Golovkin. I do wish they had fought but you can't criticize GGG too much here, as Ward was/is a division or two up.

people keep bringing up the pirog fight as some example of him being some warrior or something...yeah i too projected pirog to be good.....so now we wanna give him credit for a fight that didnt happen? yeah i know it was through no fault of his own....but you guys seem to want to give him credit for something 4 years ago when he was relatively unknown in the US and hoping to make a splash....when i mention why he let gabe rosado, a 154 lb fighter with no wins at 160, challenge for his title i get the same answer "well he was unknown in the us and needed a guy like rosado"......

but since then...4 years later....he dodged the only real fight he could have made and its been a steady stream of nothing special to horrible.....

as of last summer, when ward was calling for a fight, ward had fought all but one of his career fights at 168 or under...and in fact even now only has 2 career fights over 168.....people love to mention how ward is a "division or two up " but dont like to mention how lil g was trying to get guys in the ring who cut their teeth at ww and jr mw....

just face it...lil gs career is carefully guided ...hes not a fearless warrior down for anyone.....

No fighter gets a pass, boxing fans are re****ed as **** and think every fighter should be moving up in weight and for some reason in their moronic minds they think that's the only way to be great. If that was the case these idiots would just dethrone every previous HOF fighter that never moved out of their division.

a lot of boxing fans are giving ggg a pass. That was certainly happening viciously as I started paying attention to boxing again. Nobody was really holding him accountable, until others, such as myself, have been holding him accountable, and hopefully it'll lead to a real fight that is not a mismatch, and not a bum. Not too much to ask. A bum, rated in the top 10 is still a bum and the division weak. No more bums,

These are fanboys and not fight fans. The rise of Golovkin is the same thing that kept Manny afloat when he was fighting the Rios and Algieri of boxing, being the anti Mayweather.

Many hate Floyd because of his persona but understand that it is entertainment.
When GGG hype finally peaked they suddenly wanted a welterweight in Mayweather to fight a middle weight. They even believed the 154 B.S.,even after they tried to discredit Floyd for beating Canelo at a catch-weight. Now they suddenly want GGG to move down, how convenient.
Golovkin will never, ever be **** to the mainstream. Even with the political climate being in his favor he can't be more popular.

You are correct, fanboys, but they seem to be much much louder than real boxing ggg fans.

I don't get it neither. I think GGG would crush everyone up to 175 until Ward, Kovalev, Beterbiev. I think GGG should move up so we can get some good matches.

The real reason is his management wants to keep that ZERO in tact. I don't think GGG is afraid to move up. His management doesn't want to take the risk when there are more lucrative fights at JMW. His fans making excuses for him is sad though. GGG, himself, doesn't make excuses.
