He desperately needs to MOVE UP, the MW division is a barren-wasteland. What is he waiting for? He has the POWER, he has the TALENT, and he has the CHIN but he's 33 years old and wasting his prime.

Out of 33 fights and 13 title defenses, he has managed to only beat 2, that's right.. TWO former champions in his entire pro career. He's been waiting since 2010 to fight Martinez, now he's waiting to fight Cotto who has 2 fights lined up, and if Canelo manages to win, he'll wait 2 more years until Canelo is ready. It's starting to become a joke how much this man, who has ALL the talent in the world, is stuck(wants) to fight midgets and tomato cans.

His resume/accomplishments are so bad that once Cotto beats Geale, he'll already have a better resume than GGG at MW. It's so bad that if GGG were to retire right now, Arthur Abraham would rank above him.

I for one am confident that GGG can go to 168 and and clean out the division(since Ward moved up). Hell, I can even envision him beating Ward, but his fans and promoters and even GGG himself does not have confidence in his own abilities.

Takes two to tango man, who is he supposed to fight? Cotto and Canelo have a contract in the fall with each other, froch and Chavez both turned it down unless im mistaken, ward stuck in court and fighting a tune up, what else should he do?

and fight who at 168? Ward might move up, Froch is semi retired, Chavez jr. also fighting at LHW. He won't get bigger money fights at 168. My guess he is aiming for BHop's record.

ok, if GGG moves up to fight Ward, beats him, what are these better fights he can take at 168 that he wouldn't have had at MW?

at 160, there's still Lemieux, Lee, the WBC belt, plus the young guys like Eubank Jr, Murata or Khytrov who will no doubt become real players at 160 in a few years time

Any top 10 fighter he beats at 168 would greatly enhance his legacy and move him up in the p4p rankings. Beating Cotto or Lee won't.

His promoters and his fans aren't confident in his abilities though.

You realize GGG is 33 years old, right? He doesn't even have to fight Ward right away, any top 10 opponent at 168 would enhance his legacy and move him up the p4p rankings.

At 160 there's a midget shot to **** damaged goods WW who has 2 fights lined up, a man who isn't focused in boxing(Quillin) and probably moving up anyway, a chinny Irishmen who arguably lost his last fight(Lee), then a bunch of tomato cans and prospects.

This. Also damian38 pointed out there is still plenty for him to do at 160. I would guess he wants to unify the belts and make a nice pay day fighting Canelo before making any move to SMW.

Ward, Froch, DeGale, any of the Dirrell brothers, Groves, and Jack would be a better win than anyone GGG can fight at MW. He can even pick up a few easy belts there.

Even Stevenson and Kovalev can fight GGG at a catchweight if he ruled 168 long enough.

I agree GGG is wasting his time at 160. Cotto won't fight him Canelo won't either. Now there's talk about PBF fighting Cotto that makes it even more complicated. The fight that would be made first out of all of these is PBF-Cotto 2 at 160 then Cotto-Canelo. Another thing if Canelo beats Cotto, GBP won't let Canelo anywhere near GGG for atleast 2 years they will try and put that fight off as long as possible and milk Canelo and hope that GGG either gets old or moves up. GGG is in a very bad position and I don't care that he's the mando of Cotto it means nothing. The WBC won't honor it if PBF or Canelo wants to fight Cotto next. He needs to move up and fight guys at 168 who are willing to fight him and are big name fighters.

Proksa, Macklin, Murray and Geale were top 10 MW's when GGG fought them

So theoretically speaking, if he dispatches one of these guys you claim would enhance his legacy, as easily as he does at MW, he could find himself in the same situation he's in now. Then what? If his power is just as damaging as it is now, I don't see many guys jumping to fight him right away.

the same Dirrell who lost to contender level Jack?

the same Groves who lost to an aged, on the verge of retirement Froch, not once, but twice, second time by brutal KTFO knockout?

the same DeGale who lost to said Groves?

are they arguably H2H better than Geale, Murray or even Macklin?

If he dispatches and wins a belt at 168, of course. The sky is the limit at 168. You're not only winning belts in another weight class, you're facing bigger men which moves you up the p4p ranks.
