His a wreaking machine...after fighting him u have to go to triage and get medically fit to go out in civilisation again and live a normal life..
Looks like this is what's gonna have to happen in the end. I still believe a Maravilla fight may be on the cards for later on next year, but essentially with Quillin outta the picture 'cos of the Cold War, outside of perhaps Murray, there ain't much left for Gena at 160. The plan has been to campaign at 160, but the fights ain't materialising. Macklin was a quality step up, but after that, if you actually ran through the top 10 or even 12 names at 160 none were available either through prior engagements, injury or in one case, a suspension. Stevens was literally the best name available, and had some excitement around him for some recent highlight reel KOs since his move to 160, as well as being a New Yorker (good for MSG fight). I think Golovkins team would prefer him to work at MW, and are holding out in hopes of getting the Lineal shot vs Maravilla, but will ultimately need to move to SMW.
What big pay day at MW? If he wants to be the best and have big pay days move up and prove it the money will come. There have been so many big punchers that come up short its crazy.
Where do you go though, if guys won't fight you? You supposd to just keep moving up weight-classes 'til someone beats you - just so a few cynics can say 'look , told you he was rubbish'? There are still decent paydays at 160 and 168, the big PPVs are and probably will remain suited to only a certain type of fight (with a fairly specific fan-base). Realistically the best payday which also brings significant prestige is Sergio at 160. The best payday, and the one it sounds like Loeffler and Sanchez want is JCC jr at any weight where the fight could be sold as a legitimate extension of Golovkins career (168 or even 175, though that's getting a little silly). The greatest in terms of prestige of course, would be Andre Ward at 168 (he'd still be outweighing GGG by 10-15 lbs on the night), but financially the fight makes possibly the least sense of the 3 (at least in terms of immediate return).
Who, at 160, should he fight? Actually f#kkit. You not talking 'til he 'beats some one good' - suits me me just fine. Them we talk!
Stay busy fight and it is in NY so they are going to have him fight an overhyped NY fighter. GGG will blast Stevens out of there. Stevens has a mediocre record and his Chin won't hold up. Easy fight to analyze.
So you saying fighting someone 10-15 lbs heavier on fight night is to big of a handicap for a fighter?
Maravilla. And again, why should he move up? And what does that have to do with the original issue that he is being ducked? So many punchers come up short you say, but you expect him to move up instead of proving himself in his own weight class.
I don't see the big names ducking him and that's going by your information. He's a good fighter looking to make more money move up or keep fighting five times a year against B class boxers.
That information of mine is widely available and discussed a million yimes on this forum. He should be given the chance to clean out his own weightclass before moving up
