Why is HBO showcasing these non PPV fights on PPV?

None of these guys are PPV headliners and never will be at this point in their careers.

I don't understand why HBO is putting these guys out there in attempts to **** the pockets of dedicated boxing fans?

Cotto/Margarito is worthy, thought I hear the undercard is weak.
    Casamayor/JMM is NOT worthy

What other fights are you referring to?

Casamayor v JMM wouldn't do **** ... Casa isn't known by the boxing public as being a legit threat ... he's never headlined a PPV card before.

Marquez isn't a huge draw even though he'll be getting the bulk of the numbers.

I don't see this fight pulling more than 100k buys ... JC jr can do that on his own.

Margarito v Cotto is good, but the lack of marketing and promotion might hurt the numbers of this fight ... and I think a fight like this should be showcased free to the public ... WCB

Hopkins v Pavlik ... is a snoozer and will lack the drama ... yeah there might be drama leading up to the fight but whoever has watched Hopkins fight before knows that he will zap the drama out of the fight come fightnight.

Calzaghe v Jones is going to be a snoozer as well ... you have two boxers not known for knocking guys out ... in a 12 round match full of bull**** and the occassional sloppy fighting on behalf of Calzaghe.

All of them ... some of the best fights i've seen wasn't even on PPV ... Castillo v Corrales ... Marquez v Vasquez ... easily PPV worthy fighting on a non PPV event.

I think that Cotto v Margarito has that kinda potential depending on how it ends ... we can atleast see a rematch ...

Why isn't that put on regular HBO first and depending on how much drama during fight night happens ... this could be the set up for a bigger event and more number than if they had the first fight on PPV ... look at Pavlik v Taylor I & II ...

I see all my PPV events at the local bar which cost me nothing, so i dont mind so much. However, if i had to pay 40 bux, yes i would be pissed for Casamayor/JMM.

Hopkins - Pavlik a snoozer? may be... but wasn't De La Hoya - Mayweather jr also a snoozer?!

I bet Hopkins - Pavlik will get a 24/7. You heard it here first

Fitz you are real mad my man, but I feel u. I think the only one thats has potential to sell is Joe vs Jones if they hype it up, which they wont. I guess Jones vs Tito is going to be the best seller of 2008

"The World Awaits" was one of the biggest trash PPVs ever to come out of HBO.

Margarito and Cotto might do only a third of those numbers, but they will put on a show ten times what that farce was. Get used to that reality.

Don't say that **** man -- you don't know what the **** you're talking about ... i'll be surprised if that fight sells more than 100k buys ... Cotto needed help in his biggest seller (against Shane Mosley 350k buys) ... he didn't sell much against Judah 200k buys ... and against Malignaggi they barely did 30k ... so what the **** are you talking about.

He had one of the lowest ratings for a WCB card ... and Margarito has yet to headline a WCB card or a B.A.D card ... he's never headlined a venue by himself ... that fight that he had against PW had a decent crowd because Arreola and Andre Ward were on the card earlier and they're both big names and California natives. (I meant big names in Cali)
