Regarding Joe C, how about a solid 9 :yep Wonder what it is about Joe C that "iceman" doesn't like :think
maybe its because his european lmfao i don't see how calzaghes era was weak when a guy he beat 8 years ago in his prime that couldnt win a world title then is now a champion lmfao iceman is playing the uninfromed ******ed american stereotype well
you mean you are judging 2 WHOLE eras based on a singlefighter winning ONE title with as yet no further wins at title level? and ignoring that dozens of fighters from joe's era have not won titles, or even fought for them again.
the Hw scene was in a trough when the ageing K bros were tagteaming in order to keep titles, but its starting to pick up right now, I would say. I mean saying that - its still nowhere near good.
Because outside of Wlad, it's weak. Glazkov, a top contender, went life and death with journeyman Rossey.
I'm not sure what you guys are talking about. The heavyweight division has had some really good fights this year. Seems like there's been at least one really good heavyweight fight every month. Bryant Jennings stopping Artur Szpilka in January Carlos Takam and Mike Perez fighting to a controversial draw in January Czar Glazkov's war with Tomasz Adamek in March Steve Cunningham getting off the deck to beat Amir Mansour in April Bermane Stiverne knocking out Chris Arreola in six rounds in May Alexander Povetkin knocking out Manuel Charr in May Czar Glazkov's controversial win in an excellent 10-rounder with Derric Rossy in August And Povetkin is fighting Takam in October. Stiverne is fighting Wilder in the fall. Solid year for the heavyweights. It's had just as many or more excellent fights as any other single division so far his year. How many outstanding Super Middleweight fights have there been this year? One?
there is also kessler who joe beat when he was in his prime and a shot kessler would beat almost every guy in the division today what fighters are you on about? and proof? fact is 168 today is weaker than it was in calzaghes era but because the best fighter is american its considered hot
How much credit would you give Wlad if he beats the winner of Stiverne-Wilder, and becomes the Undisputed HW Champion?
but your own argument proves you wrong - Kessler is no longer a champion now, only briefly holding an ibf title, whereas back in Joe's day he was able to manage unification and multiple defences. you want proof that everyone of Joe's defences apart from Bika and Kessler, none own titles in todays era? why do you need proof of that? Why do you claim its the norm that the guys Joe fought went on to do better? They didn't. Bika is one of the few exception. You seem to define 'fact' differently from everyone else. Letme add that I respect Joe for what he did, an exceptional piece of longevity that's unmatched at smw and thus deserving of HoF. But I wont ever try to reverse what happened and make claims that other smws deserve more, its unfair on other smws.
Technically, Wlad didn't become the lineal champion until last year, when he fought Povetkin. A new lineage is established when the #1 and #2 fighters fight each other.
At his age just about every past HW champ was washed up, so I'd give him tremendous credit. However, in this era with four major belts, being "undisputed" champ doesn't add that much. Wlad has had multiple belts and has been the RING HW champ for many years. In other words, Wlad had been the HW champ for many years. The biggest HW fight for over 5 yrs would have been Wlad vs his brother - and that just wasn't going to happen.
i love watching Jennings, and Arreola/stiverne was quite exciting. let's hope Pulev gives Wlad a good challenge.
