I agree Bernard is great at taking fighters power away and smothering.
Although probably a good idea to avoid him, I could see him stopping BHop with a body shot. Still probably a closer fight than people think.

Dude was Hopkins mandatory defence, instead of enforcing it he ran to Wales instead to fight a poor mans Joe Calzaghe.

I think Hopkins loses the fight. I don't think he is avoiding him, but even if he is who cares he is damn near 50. An fought about every one there was to fight. Why hate on him. If I was 49 I would cherry pick some fights. At his age it is a quality victory to beat anyone in the top 30. He is still fight better opponents than most of the heavyweight contenders.

Kovalev fought Cleverly because Hopkins refused to fight him, so he picked a title in the fighter's home town. SOB Ward would never fight someone outside of his home town....................both Stevenson and Hopkins ran from Kovalev, Kovalev would knock them both out..............

Kovalev wants Stevenson because he knows he can't beat Hop. GG fights bums because he's shook of Ward. Once Wilder ko's Wlad, all right will be restored. We can't have people giving these 3 clowns props.

Hopkins are aiming for Adonis. Maybe you don't know this but hopkins is over 45 years old and is still fighting the best out there.

Well being on different networks doesn't make it an easy fight to make, the money isn't there for this fight to it ever be likely unless something changes with either fighter.

I'm a huge Hopkins fan and even I don't rate Hopkins chances against Kovalev. I think Hopkins would of course be competitive but Kovalev is scary, he's already killed one man and with Hopkins several months shy of being 50 it's not a fight I would blame him for avoiding.

Hopkins has never shown to me that he would duck anyone despite what some say on this forum. He fought Taylor, his then top contender when many saw Taylor as the next big thing. He stepped up 2 divisions to face Tarver. He fought Wright who many fighters back then would prefer not to fight. He fought Dawson twice when everyone thought he was ducking him. He looks to be wanting Stevenson who is on his network despite him crushing Dawson. He also publicly agreed to fight Kovalev when Kovalev was his mandatory.

But Hopkins is old, very old and he's declining fast now, all his most recent fights has seen an erosion in his ability, he's slower, punching lighter and weighing less, closer to his natural weight.

I'm pretty sure Al Hayman just ****ed up a Kovalev vs Stevenson fight over on HBO so that Stevenson could fight Hopkins on Showtime. If Hopkins is fighting Stevenson, then he's not ducking anybody. Stevenson is perceived to be as dangerous as Kovalev right now. I reckon that Hopkins wants them both.
