After he passed away, I rewatched many of his fights to really just see his shadow-realm punch in full action, but looking back at it. He has most of his fights not filmed, dude had 68 KOs and we only watched a couple of them or so. The only new prime footage I found of Shavers is him hitting the heavybag, not really putting all his efforts in. Kind of weird that one of, if not the hardest puncher in history has so little filmed fights.
I love Earnie Shavers, he's one of my all time favorite heavyweights. But he had a lot of nothing fights against nobodies held in out-of-the way locations that wouldn't be much worth watching anyway, other than to see how brutally Shavers starched the opponent. In those days, because of the cost, difficulties in setting up filming, transportation of equipment, etc. many of these kinds of fights weren't filmed.
Footage of the Shavers vs Lyle fight, as if from the 19th century. It's hard to tell who's Ron Lyle and who's Earnie Shavers (it's better to tell by the color of the shorts). This content is protected
