Why is it that “the bear” stuck to Liston but “the mummy” didn't stick to Foreman?

Dressed as a washer woman at a presser, I did like Chuvalo referring to Ali as “Cautious” Clay.

First time I ever saw that clip I misheard and actually thought Chuvalo called Ali “Nauseous” Clay - not a bad fit still. :D

Ali did say something very funny on his feet at the presser though.

While Chuvalo complained that Ali was avoiding him, asking him WHY?, Ali fired back with “Dressed like that and you wonder why?”

Back when Ali was actually original and fresh with his humour.

Norton always loved Ali's humor. It didn't worry him one bit and he loved that he used it to earn Kenny extra dollars fighting him. Kenny had his own moments too. He even turned the tables the odd time, obviously helped by the fact that he was always unaffected, seeing it for what it was, and calmly choosing his moments.

Definitely. I love the presser for the rubber where, when Kenny got up to speak after Ali, Norton dropped a red napkin over the non stop talking Ali’s head - Ali took it off and said smiling “That’s the only red I’m gonna see”.

Or, how about Norton describing Ali’s visit to him hospital after the car accident?

Norton said Ali brought his magician’s stuff and did one trick after another “for” bed ridden Ken. Ken jokingly said to Ali “Do one more damned trick and I’m gonna kill you!”. Lol.

What a cluttered & worthless thing the Human memory is. Tomorrow I was planning to pull out Fight Night Round 3 for the first time in a good fifteen years & give it a whack, & somehow I recall exactly when you said it that you were right. I can see the orange-yellow text on the red background in my mind. Why are such memories even there when I can’t find my keys half the time!?

Apparently your mind believes that fight night is a more pressing issue than remembering where your keys are.

I remember telling a friend who has a big Morrissey fan that The Smiths were the perfect band to listen to with your head in an oven. My friend didn’t appreciate my observation.

Saying that though, how many people at that time and I thinking boxing people as well as general public people knew that his real name was actually Charles and Sonny was just a nickname? People might think that Ali calling him the bear ugly bear and Foreman the Mummy was mocking and making fun of them but then how brave must have been the person who seeing Liston physical appearance and intimidating demeanour first called him Sonny?

They should put together a boxed set of songs titled Music To Slit Your Wrists By - I’d love to direct the full infomercial for same - it would be a hoot.

There’s some damn depressing songs out there that you really shouldn’t listen to when you’re not in the most positive frame of mind in the first place. Maybe just me, but The Carpenters music, while excellent, always sounded depressing to me.

Suffice to say, Joy Division’s music wasn’t always so joyful. New Order was so much more optimistic by comparison.

Not to say I didn’t love JD’s music. I did but it didn’t exactly carry the “up”’feel of, say, Marky Mark and the Funky Bunches classic, “Good Vibrations”.

“Can you feel it baby? Yeah, I can too!” Iconic stuff that leaves an indelible impression, or, should I say, Mark?

Ali could still be fresh at times despite being often cliched in later years.

I always found this extraordinary and hilarious at the same time. Ali making light of his condition - a great way to accept same.

The reporter is initially wary of being scammed but ultimately, with wife Lonnie aiding and abetting perfectly, I think they ultimate got the reporter, hook, line and sinker.
