i know fighter like floyd & pac don't come around everyday. i ain't dissing paul, those were some good wins. i just don't think he improve on his flaws as fighter. this fight was his real test for me what he gone do when people don't stand in front him and have decent/good boxing abilities. i knew who sergio was and what problem he could give paul. all i expect from paul is his best.he only human just a man god gave him a gift, i believe he's doing the best that he can.

I gave the first round a draw, but if I had to give it to one fighter then it would have to be Martinez. the only one hurt in that first round was Williams.

Anybody got that GIF of Martinez literally knocking the snot outta Williams? that was some funny ****! I was amazed how Sergios face held up during the fight. It wasn't till the end that his left cheekbone started swelling bad. Williams was busted up bad, but never got discouraged.

Hats off to both fighters. Great fight.

two top quality fighters in their prime = tough battle. Williams edged it but not by much. Martinez value goes up also. two winners actually = good for boxing.

now if only dawson and floyd would start fighting the best without ducking (Cloud and Pac, Cotto, Mosley), the sport would get back up where it belongs.

Williams might be No. 1 P4P, the guy could dominate THREE DIVISIONS SIMULTANEUSLY

Floyd, Hopkins, could never do that.
    Pac though might.

Not true...... On my card Martinez won the fight 115-113 he was the better fighter & landed the cleaner punches. All credit to Williams he never stopping coming. It was a hell of a fight.
Martinez would give all 3 fits IF they foolishly decided to fight him

the idiots you're talking about are discrediting both fighters and it's a ****in joke. martinez and williams are two of the best we have. if people can't enjoy that **** they need to find another sport.

I can't believe a lot of people on this forum couldn't see that this was going to be a serious test for both fighters. I heard a lot of people discounting Martinez before the fight and were probably shocked when Sergio took the fight to PW.

    Well...now they know the truth

The only fighter who was exposed last night was Martinez...

One punch was flush, on punch barely made contact. One fighter was hurt, the other one landed a gigantic shot seconds after he got knocked down. It's pretty obvious to everyone that Martinez RAN AWAY with the first 3 rounds.

Who has Dawson ever ducked? He challenged Calzaghe, Kessler and BHOP, and they ignored him. Now you tell me who's ducking who.

Relinquished his title instead of fighting Cloud.

Never would say that, but why not defend against an unbeaten fighter like Cloud? Isn't that a little hypocritical of Dawson...he's asking that of Calzaghe and he's not willing to do the same thing?

    Makes you wonder.

Your logic is obvious. For Martinez to win rounds he had to make Williams look like a fool. What a ridiculous criterion and its no wonder Williams was up 6-2 after you watched 8 rounds. Martinez had to dominate rounds to win them on your card, while Williams just had to "dictate the pace". Learn how to score fights.

pound for pound... you act as if none of those fights could happen at 147..

paul could fight floyd at 147 and floyd and pacman woudl say no
paul coudl fight shane at 147 and he DID say no
and they was willing to fight hopkins at 168 and he aint want it either...

so what do you mean p4p....

I don't discredit neither of these two guys. They gave us perhaps the best fight of the year. Pisses me off that if a fight is great people have to interpret it along the lines of "oh well if x gave y a tough fight it means y is overrated". That argument would be valid if one of the guys were a journeyman but neither of these guys are. Geez, enjoy a great fight between 2 world class operators without having to diminish either guy.

Mtagwa-Lopez: there you can say Lopez is diminished for having a tough time cuz Mtagwa is a bonafide journeyman. But that was not the case in this fight, regardless of whether you had heard of Martinez or not. I knew who he was since even before the Cintron fight and knew what he could potentially bring to the table. They don't call him "Maravilla" ("Wonder") for nothing.
