Why is it that boxers never get the benefit of the doubt when being knocked out?

Why is it that all fans come out of the woodworks to cry a "dive" from a professional athlete, is all I wanna know.

I remember Hoya vs Hopkins= dive
Ry Garcia vs tank = dive
    Kovalev vs Canelo= dive
    Holyfield vs buster Douglas= dive
All of butter beans career= dive
Mohammed Ali and the phantom punch= dive
Jason the banana man getting koed by I think it was charlo brother, hit to the mid section= dive.

Frick, you don't play boxing. Jeremy horn the fighting teacher has permanent brain damage from boxing, and he will not come back for a 7 figure pay day. He can't even remember the Pacquiao win.

    Your views?

Edit: that's the haterade list, I don't knock fighters who get kod too often.

You need to look at context. Take Ryan Garcia. I wouldn't say it was a dive as much as him just not wanting to continue. Look at the knock down again. It's curious that Garcia stood up like nothing once the ref waved the fight off. Now, if he had stayed on one knee and his corner helped him back to the corner, he probably wouldn't have been as heavily critisized. Just an all around bad look.

I remember tank Davis looking at him in the corner during the knockdown, telling Ryan to "get up." It was a perfectly placed shot and Ryan didn't seem to have the mental toughness to carry on.

Yep. Ryan made a business decision. I'm not gonna hate on him for it and hold it over his head for his career, but that's what it was.

Is it really hard to believe that people would allow themselves to get punched or “knocked out” for a few million?

Canelo Kovalev was an obvious spar job

Yep. To me, a dive is someone taking money to lose. I don't think Garcia was paid to lose. But, he definitely tucked tail and quit once he realized he ran out of answers for Tank.
