Why is it that so many people dislike Floyd and Wlad?

Is it because of their dominance?

Floyd - Discretions outside the ring and arrogance.

Wlad - Style in the ring and Xenophobia.

If you don't have haters, you suck. People forget Ali was the most hated athlete in his time.

Mainly because they are very negative, overly cautious boxers who don't take risks and put on highly boring fights.

First and foremost boxing is entertainment; most people want to see something like a Hagler vs Hearns every single time. They want to be on the edge of their seat. They want drama and excitement.

Furthermore boxing is a warrior sport. It's combat. People will always admire the guy who comes forward looking to take his opponent down far more than the guy who goes backwards doing his best not to get hit.

Boxing skill sets are just part of it. Courage, heart and desire; the willingness to take risks and put oneself in harms way. People love that stuff. They want the hero, the warrior, the legend. Every culture has admired that kind of thing, it's deep in the psyche. And so it is with boxing, more than most other sports.

Guys who are the antithesis of all that, particularly guys like Mayweather or Hopkins, will rarely be quite so popular with the average fan no matter how skilled they are.

I'm not so sure how much their characters play into it outside of the ring. Mayweather has surely damaged his own reputation with all the nonsense he's spouted over the years.

However Klitschko is the perfect gentleman outside the ring; articulate, educated and humble; yet the fans still don't like him.

Then you have guys like Tyson. No matter how badly he behaved in real life everyone still wanted to watch him fight; they loved him because he fought like a warrior.

So, there you go, for what its worth thats my opinion.

    Floyd - Black, Rich, Successful

Wlad - White European dominating predominantly a division African Americans used to dominate.

Most hate in boxing is because of race or nationality, anyone who thinks differently is very naive.

If you aren't hated, you aren't successful. Whoever is at the top always receives the most criticism.

I don't know about that. Pac wasn't really hated by anyone but Floyd fans until this shoulder nonsense.

Same goes for Holy until the Lennox draw and steroids.

I don't think Pac was hated by most Mayweather fans. It's Pac's extreme fans that are hard to stomach and make you root against Pac.
