Why is it that "SONS" of Famous Elite-Level "Back in the Day" Fighters...

Why why why... the answer is very simple yet truly shocking if you hear it first...

You only have half of daddy's scarred, battle-worn, HOF-level boxing genes because the other half is coming from your goddamn hot yet fragile mommy your daddy met when he got rich and famous.

Hot mommy genes are unfortunately not battle-compatible, having an ugly, hardworking mommy like a hoe or female prisoner or something can significantly improve your chances at the HOF. The best reciepe however if your mommy is your daddy's sister, that's 100% direct transfer of the fighting genes.

 

Because there are only a handful of men that have existed that are better than Hearns (for example) at welter/jr middle.

Regardless of genes, it's pretty hard for anyone to top that.

Yeah I agree, growing up with money demotivates as well as a great fighter has to be special in many different ways. It is hard to duplicate. Floyd Mayweather being better than his dad is more rare, yet had his dad been great, maybe he would not have been.

Good point, but wasn't Uncle Roger the one responsible for Floyd's success? Floyd, Sr never became a champion, he was a contender, but Uncle Rog was a world champion and from what I understood was the one that made Floyd into the fighter he is today. You could say Floyd is like a son to Uncle Rog, but technically he's not a son of a famous elite level fighter.

 

Did you ever think that all those great fighters were better than their dads? Youd be surprised how many fighters come from boxing families.

 

Because the sons usually aren't raised to be boxers, they are sent to good schools and usually get college educations. This boxing business happens usually when they find out they can make a few million off their dads name, so they enter the sport with no amateur experience fighting complete cans(I mean guys that can barely make a tight fist.) until either they have a cash out fight against a legit talent or each other. i.e. what was supposed to happen with Ronald Hearns, he was supposed to fight Chavez but got up ended by Harry Joe Yorgey, who promptly got ripped apart by Alfredo Angulo.

 

Whst about Floyd and Roy Jones? Or Trinidad actually theres alot of sons that were better than their fathers.

 

He said ELITE level, ELITE. Roy Jones Sr, Mayweather Sr, and Trinidad Sr. were anything but elite.

 

Moar proof about the importance of a fighter's psychology and mentality over having "good genes".

Would you consider Bill Douglas and Lenny Mancini elite? They both were ranked at one time 99 percent of figters never even reach that.

 

Sr. wasn't really an elite level boxer. He was the Paulie Malignaggi of his day.

 

fighters like that are very very rare. Even in the same family something like that is almost impossible to duplicate.

 

In that case it's a stupid question. It's like asking why Maradona's kids weren't better than him at football. The elite are elite for a reason, they are the very few of millions to become elite so the likelihood of their children surpassing their achievements is miniscule.
