So, who do you think is this 215 lb HW who has both a) the power to threaten guys who outweighs him by 30+ pounds, and b) has the chin to withstand the punches of guys who outweighs him by 30+ pounds while trying to get off him power shots and compete in this division?

You must have someone in mind.

I do think size is a major factor. Vitali and Valuev are not that talented...take away their size and they're average. Vlad is more talented, but take away four inches in height and he's getting tagged more often...and probably going down. I give them credit though, as some other big guys have failed to use their advantages and have paid for it. But I do agree that guys like Chambers are wasting their time and risking their brains by fighting the K. brothers....cruiserweight would indeed be a better option. [/I]

Once again, your argument is predicated on an ATG with an iron chin.

There definately has been a trend since the emergence of super heavies like the Klitschko's and Lewis for naturally smaller men to add weight in the assumption that being bigger than their natural fighting weight would somehow benefit them and not be detrimental.

I personally think that all the extra muscle or bodyfat is a hinderance not an advantage to these over blown heavyweights. A naturally smaller heavyweight simply cannot compete with the natural super heavies in terms of size and strength and should not even attempt to, they should focus on their advantages in speed and agilty and not pack on the mass, this is boxing not bodybuilding.

Apart from the Klitshcko's who are the 2 best heavyweights? I'd say Haye and Adamek both small heavies who have bulked up a little but not at the expense of their speed and agility.

Right now there's no one, but there's also no one who is 240-250lbs who poses a threat either, like i said guys like Lewis, Bowe, and Klits are rare exceptions. There are tons of guys with similar stats who are nowhere near the level of their athleticism and talent.

BTW Brewster already did it once, and it was during the time when Wlad was actually letting his hands go full time. But im pretty sure you'll mention Brewster's chin or something of that nature.

It's not my fault that most of the ATG like Foreman, Tyson, Frazier, Ali etc were right at or below 220lbs for most of their careers. No one i mention would measure up to your standard and therefore be disqualified on the notion of some advantage, chin, power, talent.

yeah except that Holyfield could enter a bodybuilding contest while ibragimov could be a poster boy for Jenny Craig diet in comparisson.

A muscular 6' 205lb guy would have practically no chance against a top superheavy. He'd need to be first ballot HOF/ATG material or just damn lucky to get the win.

Well I used to be 160 bloke, after cycling 100 miles on a mountain bike in a day after having a burger and a drink I was 152. The following day 12 hours late I was 158 1/2 and still hungry and thirsty. I am now 20 years older and 180-185 with out love handles or a belly. To get to Aerola shape I would need to get to 200-205.

You have a natural weight range, in my case a 6 pack crunched up in a bath at 160 at 25 years old, which means body fat less than 10%. I could shed 10 pounds in water (weighin weight) and go back to 160 in 12 hours. You can muscle about 20 pounds before you start losing efficientency. Boxers are nearly always at the bottom of their weight range, your jaw does not get any harder. They also cling to weights they were as teenagers.

In my case I would have been dehrdrating to Welterweight, had to give up and settle for being a light middle. Hit 30 cycled 500 miles across Norway came back the same weight 172, could dehydrate to 160 possibly at the time for a weighin. Hit 35 weight reaches 175, still no belly 32 waist, 42 chest, 5'11, would be able to de-hyrate to 168.

Heaviest I have been is 192 and my waist is still trimmer than a 208 Eddie Chambers.
Adamek is a classic fighter who was kept way below his natural weight of 200, he probably got in the ring at 185-190 when fighting as a light heavy. Once he got near 30 and father time adds 10-15 natural pounds (not fat) he was doomed as a light heavy. When he got in the ring as a cruiser he was at least 205-210 and did not look in the slighest bit fat for a cruiser. Now he fights at 217 and does not have a belly and is pretty much at the top of his natural weight range without getting fat. His waist is a hell of lot trimmer than Eddie Chambers. Adamek with a small pot belly and love handles would probably be 235 e.g. standard heavyweight shape.

Haye at 225 has a six pack, his natural weight range is 215-235, he over trained for fraudley. A fat Haye would be perhaps 240.

You see a heavyweight with a slight belly, he can lose 15 pounds without de-hydrating, proper belly Aerola shape 30 pounds. After the 30 pounds there is still 10-15 pounds water loss. There are a lot of 240 pound fat heavies, who are naturally 210, who can make the 200 cruiser limit. There are very few historic natural big heavies who could not make 210.

I why do you think that is? Those guys see the landscape of the division moving upwards and recognize the limited possibilities.

I'ts not that hard to understand.

And before that point, Brewster was taking an absolute HELLACIOUS beating. Kudos to Lamon, but tt basically took a Klit physical collapse for him to win.

The part you leave out is that they were fighting guys who, for the most part, were ALSO within 10 lbs. of 220.

I just don't see why you are making this so complicated.

Boxing is not a bodybuilding contest. If a man comes into fights at around the same weight for 10 years then one should assume that this is his natural weight.

Definitely a hard ask for anybody under 6' and 215lbs. Brian Minto against Arreola kind of summed it up for me.

fat people stay fat for years also, doesnt mean they are in the best possible condition they can be in.

You dont have to look like a bodybuilder, when i say natural i mean being in shape with minimal fat, guys like ibragimov have double chin not to mention he's soft all over the midscection, and has no muscle definition.

There's a difference between being muscular, trim, and overweight. Ibragimov has been showing up over weight for most of his fights. Not to mention he performed below 200lbs in the amateurs while in his 20s.

You guys pick the worst possible match ups to prove your point.

190lbs Marciano would knock out 220lb Brian Minto. Ill go even lower, 185lbs Bob Satterfield would ko Minto and Arreola.
