Why is Jarrett Hurd fighting a guy who lost to a boxer with 126 losses?

Could they not have found a better opponent for Jarrett Hurd than Jason Welborn? Especially since this fight is for multiple world titles (IBF, WBA "Super" and the IBO).

Two years ago in 2016, Welborn lost to William Warburton.

    Here's Warburton's record: http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/491580

What's the point of a world champion taking a fight like this? It's the very worst of several ugly mismatchs on this boxing event.

This is the worst undercard I have ever seen. Every single match on the undercard is utter crap.

Big fan of Hurd but he shouldn’t be entertaining this calibre of opponent at this stage of his career. Nobody wants to watch a guy like Welborn get beaten up for peanuts.

Joe Joyce is going to KO Joe Hanks in a few rounds, Ortiz might stop Kaufman in only a few rounds too, and Hurd is going to run through Welborn.

They better have some swing bouts to show us otherwise the PPV is going to be 10 minutes of boxing and a couple hours of talking heads before the main event.

I don’t blame Hurd to be honest. He’s just had the surgery and I think you can never be too confident and this is very much an easy cherry pick. Look what happened to Degale recently though, I don’t think you can ever be 100% sure after major surgery like that and we’ll see how he gets on and looks after it all...

Its ridiculous when you consider the ticket/ppv prices on top. Classic con-move: put some relatively big names on the card, but have them facing opponents that carry no threat. Cash-grabbing at its most obvious.

No wonder they are struggling to fill it out.

Yes. Most boxing fans are not as stupid as they believe.

for those of you who haven't seen Jason wellborn and are just judging him from boxrec or whatever. he is actually worse than his record looks. if this fight makes it past 2 rounds id be very surprised

He did arguably beat Macklin, a bloke GGG fans consider to be a great win

he went life and death with tommy Langford a few month ago on khan undercard. if Langford didn't gass and had a little bit more power he could of had him out. its scary to think what hurd will do to him

Yes. I think mismatches like this should not be approved by boxing commissions, the poor guy might get seriously hurt tomorrow.

Because this cocksucker gets praise when he does it Whorebeck. Hurd figured why not if Borat can do it.
GGG lost his IBF belt to fight a 154 with a 2 year layoff. You did not oppose. He ducked Dervenchenkov to do it too.

Yep I have no problem with it either. He's allowed a tune up fight to get back to full fitness.

Martirosyan never lost to an opponent with 126 losses.

I was actually disappointed in GGG at that time (I wanted him to face Derevyanchenko) and it's true that was a mismatch.

But GGG-Vanes was not nearly as bad as this one. Vanes has decent boxing skills and he's a far better fighter than Welborn.
