Chavez and Diaz were going at it, neither man had a clear edge when Chavez' knee or leg I believe, went out. That was the end. He could not continue. So isn't that a victory by retirment? TKO or RTD or something? Why "KO" on boxrec?
that's a damn good question. i assumed it was listed as a tko or rtd too, but, you are right, it's listed as a straight knockout. i don't even think there was a punch directly preceding the injury. and the injury was noted as such by the ref, i know that for sure. i saw that fight and cannot imagine why it would be booked as such. anybody have a clue or a theory?
I don't remember how that fight went exactly, but if it's wrong it's no big mystery why. Boxrec has many small errors here and there in the records of certain fighters. It's a great site to look through if you want to checkout fighter's records, but don't rely on it as if it were 100% accurate all the time.
He went down due to the injury and was counted out. Since no push or slip happened, if you go down on your own, the ref has to start counting and that's what happened.
ah, counted out makes sense. What a misleading result though. Julio Diaz, right aftewards, said he "took his heart" in regards to Chavez. Nothing could be further from the truth. Chavez was frustrated as hell after, he wasn't losing at the time of stoppage nobody really had a clear edge if I remember correctly.
