You dont have a clue pal.......I've been scoring fights for almost 30 years.....

If a fighter is winning a round and say towards the end he scores a knockdown......then its a 10-8 for that fighter.

If a fighter is clearly losing a round and say toward the end he scores a knockdown.......its supposed to be scored an even round......the knockdown evening up a round he was losing.

Official judges it seems are'nt properly instructed how to score such round one way or the other.......

I've seen judges score such rounds as the 3rd round of Pac-Cotto even.......and I've also seen it scored 10-8 for the fighter that scored the knockdown.

Over 15 years ago on a tuesday night fight on USA network....I judge was said to have scored a round in which a knockdown occured 10-9 for the fighter that scored the knockdown......
Why did he score it 10-9......his answer was that he had the round scored on an even basis.....and the knockdown tilted the round to the fighter who scored the knockdown 10-9.

I wish the governing bodies would make it clear to judges who they should score rounds when a fighter that clearly won the round hands down, is knocked down........but unfortunately they leave that to the discretion of the judges, which often times creates alot of controversy.

Would'nt you agree that a fighter who is winning a round clearly and gets knockdown should only even up the round? .....especially if it seems its only a flashknockdown.

Its not fair for a fighter who is dominating a round and scores a knockdown, only gets a 10-8.......
...when some judge give out that same score to a fighter who is getting his ass beat in a round and scores a knockdown.

The HBO crew itself has often times scored even rounds when there was a knockdown in a round.
....such rounds are scored 10-10, because the rule is that the winner of a round gets 10 points and the loser gets 9 or less.......
In the case of an even round its scored 10-10.

Point deductions are only for penalty deductios instructed for by the referee.....for lowblows, exessive holding, and the like....

I had Cotto winning the 3rd round hands down......the knockdown by Pacquiao evened the round up for him.
If Pacquiao would have been winning the round without taking the knockdown into effect.....then thats a 10-8 taking the knockdown into effect.

I've seen judges score it either way.......but it seems like they pick and chose when they want and when they dont want to give out 10-8's when a fighter did'nt win the round and then scored a knockdown.
.......I wish the orginizations that appoint the judges would clearly instruct them how to score a round when its clear a fighter who got knocked down, would have won the round clearly.

Lampley was correct.......when Pacquiao knocked down Cotto in the 3rd round, the round was still up for grabs for Cotto to still make it an even round.

Why are you a delusional Pacman nut-hugger?

He's not a Pac-man hater just because he doesn't hang on Manny's nuts like you!

I didnt notice it. Favouring one fighter over another isnt hating. He likes both Cotto & Pac, he just happened to like Cotto more.

    Dude,

You can write about on how long have you been judging boxing matches if you want!

AT THE END OF THE DAY! The SCORE SHOULD NOT BE 10-10 for round 3!

Make you OWN GOVERNING BODY if you would score if DIFFERENTLY when it comes to KD's!

Watch your word MR Pertect guy! Flash KD?! Dude, if the power was not felt he will still be standing up he will just probably be stunned only. There was timing and power at the same time. Was it luck?! Dude the guy went down 2x's! You don't win or KO opponents based on LUCK!

Going back to the scoring system that you wish!
It will defenitely benefit the likes of JMM who is TRADITIONALLY ko'D! :hey

Divac as always will give you a kilometer long reply of useless, senseless thing.

    Simple things need simple answers.

You win a round (not a round where you punch a fighter from pillar to pillar without KD because that can be scored 10-8 ), then you gain a point advantage, or a 10-9 round.

You get Knocked down, you lose 2 points, or a 10-8 round, automatically.

You get so confused most of the time. I will simplify it for you. Had the knockdown appeared in the first 10 seconds, then Pac scored already a 10-8 round. Now, because Cotto was so brilliant that he actually won that round, then Cotto regained a point, meaning that the most that he can score is 10-9.

There is simply no way to equalize a 2 point deficit by winning one point. It does not add up and Lampley was an idiot when it comes to scoring by repeatedly stating a possible 9-9 round.

You are stating that a catastrophic situation like knockdown can be evened out by simply winning the round. Logic, logic, logic!

But if Cotto had lambasted Pac from one pillar to pillar, then it is almost considered a knockdown and scored as such, that evens the round, or an 8-8 round but in a 10 point must system, a 10-10 round.

But 10-10 in boxing is almost non-existent. even fights where both fighters do not connect as in most cases of first round, feeling out round, judges are obligated to score it with one winner for that round, may it by aggression alone, or by personal bias.

If I remember it right, you scored round 7 or 8 in the JMM-Pac 2 fight a 10-8 round. BTW, if you are barely winning and gets knocked down, judges would still give it a 10-8 round, unless you get a judges who nitpicks, which is a rarity.

Lampley has always had his favorite fighters, DLH being his most favorite of all favorites. He has always had disdain for King fighters, thus his disregard for Chavez and Tyson. He loved Meldrick taylor (and who wouldn't by all regards he was considered a great guy by almost everyone) so when he called that fight if you just listened it was like Chavez didn't land a punch for the first 7 rounds.

He loves Cotto, and during the first telecast he was definitely pro Cotto, very similarly the way he was pro Taylor. However, if you watch the replay of the fight on HBo, he does a lead in that was very pro Pacman and very concillitory. I think Pacman may now be on his list.
