I voted personality. I certainly have nothing against what he does in the ring after the Lacy & Kessler fights I thought he could walk on water. Oustside of the ring though he's the perfect cocktail of insecure, arrogant, charmless and thick, it's like fingernails on the chalk-board to me. Plus his dad.

Because he has an over-inflated sense of his own value as a fighter and a legacy built on smoke and mirrors that flatters to decieve.

His fans, his lame ass resume and the fact that he goes on and on about some kind of legacy he supposed has built for himself, which I have yet to see any evidence of.:-(

his delusional fans kill it for me. he's barely cracking the top 100 ATG's and his fans act like he's secured a top 20 spot. can't blame him for his weak hands and style. his tyle wins and it's good enough for me but his fans make me not be able to stand the guy.

Why don't his slaps ever get called up by the ref - hitting with the inside of the glove is illegal

That's actually a very good question.

Calzaghe doesn't do it as much as he's been accused, but he does actually do it. And it is illegal.

Should have allowed us to vote for more than one reason.

I don't like him because of his fans, the way he fights, and his general dick-headedness.

I just want the #1 answer. But if it's a multiplicity like that then the last option should suit you.

You got him in your top 100 ATG?:admin

I'm being dead serious and unbiased, I think Calzaghe deserves to be in the top 200, but like barely cracking THAT.

Seriously. I just think there are many more much greater fighter that deserve to be in the top 100.

Matter of fact, I don't even consider him an ATG. To me he is a good fighter, but that it. He has done nothing "GREAT" to even be considered an ATG.

    1. Nationality. American fans get on the back foot easily, as it probably isn't the greatest time for boxing in the US, and they don't like one of the top p4p fighters being British.

    2. Style.

This is one of the reasons why Pac and JMM, despite not being from the states, aren't "reviled". They have had their balls to the wall fights with each other, very crowd pleasing fights. Pac is the epitome of a fan favourite style of fighting, so its hard to dislike him. Pac and JMM also don't have big rivalries with America's top p4p fighters (Hopkins, Pavlik) which has a huge effect on how Calzaghe is received by American fans.

Joe is just not likeable, he finally got into the worldwide scene after the Lacy win and the first thing that comes out of his mouth is that he enjoys beating on American fighters. Then calls out Hopkins who was retired at the time. Fights Manfredo. Stalled the Kessler fight for months. Fights a shot RJJ. Then says boxing is a dying sport.

Calzaghe brought this hate on himself.
