Why Is Joe Calzaghe Reviled?

Racism. American whites tend to be the ***** of the American black man, so when they see white boxers from other countries beating said black man, their ***** hurts. They blame Calzaghe for their ***** hurting and therefore dislike him. Same with the Klits. It's all about the ***** hurt.

I'm not sure why he's so hated but out of the reasons you listed I would say its his nationality. I think hes a good fighter who shouldnt be hated.

He is beating all of you heroes though.

 

I have always enjoyed watching Calzaghe's fights.

 

I use to like him because I thought he had been hard done by,wanting the big fights and wanting to secure a legacy but not having the opportunity to do so.

In some regards, he has some similiarities to Hopkins racking up numerous title defenses and coming into the spotlight late in their careers. But the similarities end there, Hopkins continues to seek out the biggest challenges, even if he's done it his way. Calzaghe has always had the backing of a big promoter and it has been revealed he had serious doubts about ever getting into the ring with the elite. Instead of facing the biggest challenges now he wants them to prove themselves? Quite hypocritical noone would have gave him a chance against the likes of Hopkins/Jonesn 5-6 years ago. He slagged off Roy Jones as being shot yet signed a fight with him months later. Recent comments slagging off the sport haven't done him any favours either.

I mean what's there to like? His style of fighting is not the greatest to watch,he doesn't respect the sport, he fights only for himself. For a fighter of his talent, his resume just doesn't stack up either.

 

He beat the hell out of a shell of a once great fighter.... Not before getting dropped though.
