I have him at number two H2H and ATG. I feel in a trilogy, he'd beat everyone at least once including Ali. Ali's the only one who I favor over him in a trilogy. As much as I hate to say it as a huge fan of his, I don't even think Liston would beat Louis.

He may have had trouble with Lewis or a Klitschko purely because of their great size and weight advantage but p4p he is way better than them. apart from that those who have said any of that other stuff have no clue and should be ignored... and head to head Joe Louis beats everyone in a series of three fights except for maybe a Ali or Foreman or someone else but very very very few have even a hope of lasting the distance.... anyone who thinks Louis is anything but awesome simply does not know jack about boxing and need to watch the films... the man was INCREDIBLE.

    THIS

I know Klompton will try and say Greb could beat him... at least I hope he tries because this would be fun........ Lois would kill Harry and every othe middleweight who has ever lived... literally KILLED them.

Ok I shall tell you... he was very young when he lost to Schmeling and that is because he underestimated Max and that right hand... at the time it was seen as a huge upset but in hindsight it was a blessing and not an upset at all... Max Schmeling was a very very good fighter with very few flaws, he had a massive right hand and knew his stuff.... He lost to Ezzard Charles because he was OLD and worn out and he lost to Marciano who had only two things he did better than Joe... he hit even harder than Louis and his chin was two levels better than Joe's... hell Rocky hit so hard there ain't a heavyweight in history he couldn't KO if he gets to land clean on the chin or temple but Louis was absolutely better at everything else and not many punters give Rocky any hope of beating a prime Louis and Ezzard would have had far less chance than Rocky. I do think Marciano gives Joe a hard time even in his prime but I still doubt he could have won.... and even with his awesome chin Louis will probably stop Rocky because nobody can allow Joe Louis a free and easy shot to the jaw...... basically Joe was too old to have a hope of surviving his last ever fight and too old for Charles too but he beat EVERYONE ELSE FOR A LONG LONG unbeaten stretch.... he truly deserves to be called the greatest of the heavyweights and he wasn't slow on his feet, his footwork was actually perfectly suited to his style and always in position to land blows... his jab was not slow, there have been quicker jabbers no doubt but still his jab is the best ever... it was accurate and was triphammer heavy.. he really did so much damage and his hands were very fast compared to most heavyweights.... so I suggest you go and watch his fights again.

Joe Louis is THE perfect example of a fighter who never wasted a punch... and he hardly ever threw a punch that didn't land and never never was there a pitty pat punch thrown.. every punch was meant to do damage and they all did. he is flat footed some claim.... well if you land a punch while on your toes or in the air... when both feet are planted on the ground thats when real power can happen... the trick is getting to that position where you can land hard punches... Louis never ever had that problem... what more can you ask for ?

boxing ability is not measured by the greatness of your belly size, no matter how good that belief makes you personally feel.

the option b every day, legacy yes, he was great, h2h he would not last 5 rounds with foreman or tyson. a pathetic predictable pig brawler like galento never would hurt and much less drop foreman or tyson, he would get destroyed very very early.

If Louis is under-rated by some it is probably because, as George Foreman perceptively said:

"Boxing is sort of like jazz, the better it is, the less people can appreciate it".

I don't think this subject can be nailed any better than this.

Foreman got dropped by Jimmy Young for gods sake. He also was comprehensively stopped by Ali when a guy like Norton went 30+ rounds with him. Very doubtful Ali would stop Louis, even more so in 8 or so rounds.

As for Tyson, you didn't see Louis quitting or chickening out via DQ, even when past prime.

absurd argument, louis got hurt and dopped by a shot, not becuse he was gassed against super durable movers late in the fight, plus louis was down by everybody.. ali 100% would ko louis and this fight would be much easier than foreman who could cut the ring pretty well, was bigger, stronger, got a much better chin and hits harder than louis.
and what you said about tyson is irrelevant... tyson 88 would kill louis

Damn you love me. You cant go anywhere without mentioning me. Just remember, you make me famous. LOL. It must suck to go everywhere and see people debating how Greb would do against this guy and that guy and nobody even gives two ****s about how Darcy would do. Nobody even considers him. That must be hard for someone like you. Its like being an Australian who thinks hes a bluegrass player Id imagine. Or a paraplegic who thinks hes a decathlete.

Louis is the best heavyweight I have ever seen. Not only did he have every punch in the book, but he had a GREAT left hook, a GREAT right hand, a GREAT jab, and a GREAT uppercut. Who else had that variety?

He fought and beat giants who massively outweighed him. People might say they were "oafs", but whose to say that Louis wouldn't make today's big men look like oafs, too?

Louis won the title nearly 80 years ago and I still haven't seen his equal in punch variety and technique since.
