Why is John Simpson being treated so badly?

John's to brave for his own good. I never liked the Murray fight from moment i heard it.

John's starting a new job so he has to take these opportunities to look after him and his family....

 

it actually occurred to me watching the fight that Murray was purposely going to the body to prevent any serious damage.

Hearn and Simpson equally to blame for me. It's not good enough to say its his trade and he'll fight anyone. Pointless taking on a job he had absolutely no chance of completing.

...or, Matchroom could have a bit more respect for all Simpson has done for UK boxing (giving the fans a lengthy highlight reel of memorable nights, fighting a wide array of domestic talents, at British title level at minimum, for a decade now...) and treat him like a *****?

So if you aren't of like brand, your humanity is forfeit? "You aren't our guy, so you're just a little bag of meat we can have our guys kick around?"

That's pretty silly and hopefully not the way MR really view business ethics. They should have a bit more respect outside that shown within their insular ranks and not cannibalize those who are credits to UK boxing with these size mismatch offers for the sake of getting their guys over with a low-risk big name who is there really only to be hurt. Your attitude is cynical, classically gladiatorial, and not how things ought to be done.

 

Boxing is a business. Matchroom don't owe Simpson a thing.

They don't owe him, no, but they can leave him the **** alone with these offers he probably feels he can't afford to refuse, and bring their mismatches at least up to lightweight proper and have their boys feast on journeymen who are natural lightweights if they are so deathly scared of having them actually step up.

****, look how badly Coyle struggled when he "stepped up" to freaking Brizuela, whom a downtrodden and confidence-shaken Yordan brand new to lightweight (having jumped up two divisions) managed to soundly defeat.

John Simpson has to weigh up if the money on offer is worth taking the risk of being basically on a hiding to nothing in terms of either fighting Coyle or Murray.

Matchroom gave him a acceptable offer it's up to his team also manager etc to step in if they think it's not worth it.Simpson is game we all know that personally glad it was over in two.

The fight was to showcase a Murray v Crolla fight nothing else sadly fair doesn't come into the boxing business.

That's ok you saying that mate, but John Simpson has young family to keep (Hearn Knows this). I mean John would have felt guilty if he hadn't taken that fight (which i imagine would have been a good offer with a cherry on top)

As we said before it's just as well John Murray had respect for Simpson and went to the body because he could have been a right nasty piece of work and went head-hunting for wee Simpson. Then Eddie could have had blood on his hands.

If Hearn wants to do John a good turn (he should) then he should make Simpson a nice offer to fight his little robotic paper champ Scott Quigg...But he wont as Simpson would batter f*ck out of him.

Half the world has got a young family to keep, its not a justification. For me it was a bad decision plain and simple. No malice to the lad like, I enjoy watching him fight just think he should have passed this one up.

Promoters know what they are doing, but I don't think Simpson will be taking anymore of these type of matches. I wouldn't blame him anyway as a man can only take so much.
