Only on this forum people can be so ignorant to comment a thread before understanding it. As I said hundreds of times today, his bodybuilder posture is constricting him as a boxer and his boxing capabilities.

Yet, you don't know his workout routine. You've just made up your mind that Joshua is building muscle at the moment and decided to criticise him for it.

He’ll only gain muscle mass if he’s eating surplus calories. He’ll only maintain if he’s eating maintenance level calories, and, you guessed it, if he weight trains, but eats a deficit he will lose muscle mass.

He looks slender compared to 3 fights ago. Though it could be the Miller effect.

Some on here are crisising AJ for the amount of weights he's lifting, Miller has a weight lifting regime that a international strongman would be proud of. As already stated, these guys tend to train whatever regimen suits them. AJ does an awful lot of mobility training and always looks slick and mobile in camp. Maybe it is fight night nerves and adrenalin that makes him look stiff during much of his fights.

I reckon that 5th round stamina slump he suffered against WK was very likely much to do with a huge adrenalin dump as he looked on the verge of victory only for WK to come back at him strong in the last minute of the round. I'm sure fighting in front of 90k expectant fans adds a little pressure to your performance. Then you have the Povetkin fight where although under the kosch for the first 3-4 rounds due to Povetkins fast in and out hooking attacks, AJ stayed calm and made intelligent adjustments through the fight to slowly turn the tables on Povetkin and get him out of there in some style.

AJ for me now is starting to mature as a fighter and is showing something different every fight and I expect a different look against Miller as he's going in against a 320lb tank.

Yes I’m sure you know better than his trainers.

He is pro for 6 years and he is either building or maintaining his muscle mass. I have every reason to create my opinion upon this and to express my concerns in this matter.

Like every single one of them? To make myself perfectly clear, I am not saying that he is a bad boxer or anything. In my book he is top1 HW right now and his resume with so little fights is really impressive, BUT is it really difficult to admit that compared to other top boxers about his size from this or past eras he is pretty stiff? Well he is, his defence could be better with more arm mobility as well as range and speed of his punches. Even if he didn't change anything about his physique I wouldn't be surprised if he unifed all belts. However I believe the fact he is too muscular is his biggest vulnerability, that's all.

You're being fooled by his physique and not his actual technique. Hes a very smooth comination puncher capable of throwing 5 punches in seconds with little effort ,so not sure what you're watching.

you claim weight is the issue ? He was 244 in his early fights and he was as much as 254 in Takam one where he was countering perfectly as he blocked inside shots with great reaction time. He was 248 vs Breazeale which was one of his best displays of timing and combo punching .

One of his sub par performances was with parker and he was 242...That's right TWO FORTY TWO.

You guys really got to get over the physique and watch the technique.

If you want to ACTUALLY see STIFF fighters go watch a session of WILDER and JOYCE ...THOSE guys are stiff punchers .

He's got nice combos, he is a good boxer. I did admit that. However he could be better. And no, his weight is not a problem, the amount of his muscle mass is a problem. All his problems come from too big arms, too big chest, too big shoulder, too big back. He could've been faster, more mobile, he could've had greater range within his punches. He would've hit more and been hit less. The flaws in his technique are the result of too much muscle mass. That's the thing.

And no Wilder isn't as stiff as Joshua and it ain't even close.

Mike Tyson was 5'10 and 220lbs, which is much more dense than 6'6 245bs.

No one called Tyson a bodybuilder. You should look at pictures of Tyson while he was in jail, he became smaller mass wise.

What do you mean "still working out"? Why would he stop? Most boxers tick over when not in camp. Do you think they just sit around waiting for their next fight to be announced?
