Why is Juan Manuel Lopez a 3-1 favourite over Rafael Marquez?

    Am I missing something here?

Rafael Marquez is faster, more fluid and a lot more skilled, on top of that better tested.

Lopez will have the size and power advantage but IMO that will be moot. Vasquez couldn't knock out Marquez and he is a big puncher so I doubt Lopez will do it with 1 or 2 big shots. I dont see him outboxing Marquez.

On the other hand, we know Lopez can be hurt, we saw him dropped in his last fight and Marquez is pretty heavy handed. We also saw Lopez struggle against Mtagwa late in the fight, Marquez will fight fast paced for the full 12.

Has Rafael had a poor showing recently? He looked pretty good against Vasquez in his last fight.

Because Rafael is naturally smaller and has more mileage then my Volvo. Don't get me wrong, he's somewhat a live dog, but this has potential to be ugly.

Because the most likely outcome is a Lopez win... he is just too young, too big, too fast and i think this will be an early KO win for Juanma

Juanma is younger, bigger, and stronger. Rafa is 35, and has been in some grueling wars....Juanma should be favored, but Rafa has the power, ability, and more importanly the experience to pull off the upset.

    WAR RAFA!!!!

Better for Marquez and his fans if he happens to win, it would make a potential Marquez victory that much sweeter.

When do we decide when the fighter has had too much mileage?

Marquez has had 1 trilogy, Pac has had 1 trilogy with Morales, 2 very tough fights, 2 very tough fights with JMM and plenty of others. If anything he has had more mileage but he's not gonna be a 3-1 underdog against anyone?

Has Marquez shown any signs of slipping?

Im not complaining. Im gonna drop £100 on Marquez to win, I think he should be favoured though its true Lopez has youth, size and power on his side.

However, as I've highlighted, if Vasquez couldnt drop Marquez with a big shot, Lopez wont do it either. The size IMO will be a non factor, if anything, not draining may help Marquez. If Marquez isnt shot yet, the age thing wont matter either.

Marquez is a lot more skilled.

He didn't look like his old self in the fight before the fourth Vazquez fight, if that's what you mean. And the Vazquez fight tells us nothing since Vazquez was completely shot.

Forgetting everything else, Marquez is a natural 118 pounder who likes to eat a lot of punches to his face, while Lopez is a strong 126 pounder who's pretty quick as well. Even if Marquez was prime, he probably wouldn't be the heavy favorite.

Well put some money on it. Im debating it too. Those odds are just too good.
I feel Rafa will win the fight but i dont know if he will get the nod though....

I'd be surprised if this one goes the distance. Rafa either gets the KO win or gets Ko'd!

To be fair Pac has not taken as much damage. His speed works well for his defense. Not many fighters are fast enough to catch him clean like rafa has been caught.

Well I dont think Rafa will be KOd. Too good at recovering along with big power.
Lopez might get KOd but his size alone might save him.

    Im thinking distance.

I don't see how you can type that in confidence, Marquez is easy to hit and Lopez hits massively hard if he is at mid range landing his shots.
