Why is Juan Manuel Marquez rated so highly??

The ignorance might have more to do with the severe butthurt caused by KTFO6.

 

some of my favorite fighters are mexicans. Chavez,Cuevas,Morales. He has handpicked lesser guys and then lost to Pacman and Mayweather. Lucky punch in the 4th fight. I didn't think Pacman should have fought him another time. Pacman fights a guy 4 times he is going to lose one of them probably and he did.

The fact of the matter is that Juan Manuel Marquez has:

1.) won World Titles in 4 weight classes
2.) hs been in 17 World Title fights spanning over a decade
3.) has KO'd Pacquiao like no one else
4.) has beaten Pound 4 Pound boxing greats-Marco A. Barrera, Manny Pacquiao
5.) has beaten top fighters Juan Diaz, Robbie Peden, Miachael Katsidis, Manuel Medina (a former World Champ), Mike Alvarado, etc.
6.) has been in half a dozen PPV main events with each generating over 1 million PPV buys
7.) fought an overweight Floyd Mayweather that cheated the weight scales by purposely coming overweight.

over half of the fighters in any organizations' top ten list (about 80% of the fighters in the top 10) doesnt come close to JMM's achievements.

 

Floyd, alone didnt bring those PPV numbers.
His opponent did as well.

when Floyd fought Arturo gatti, it made 350,000 PPVs
Floyd vs. Carlos Baldomir = 400,000 PPVs

Floyd vs. Juan Manuel Marquez = over 1 Million PPV's sold.
This shows, JMM is a big draw.

 

JMM was robbed against Cris John and against Norwood.

John was given a decision because it was a hometown decision.

Norwood loss was politically motivated.

Bradley fight was close, and would've been a Draw, had Bradley not punch JMM off balance in the last round.

JMM is overrated. His fight with Floyd illustrates this. NO p4p hero looks THAT terrible against Floyd regardless of excuses.

 

Marquez being judged on his performance vs the #1 PFP fighter in the world, where as we all know, JMM went into the fight with every possible disadvantage.

How must we rate a fighter who has been knocked out 2x and KTFO :think

 

JMM did better against Floyd than Hatton did.
JMM did better against Floyd than most of Floyd's opponents.

JMM has a far better resume than any fighter to come from your Puerto Rican island.

 

numbers 4.) and 5.) are about JMM's opposition.
there are very very few fighters in the last 10 years, with that kind of opposition that JMM has had.

JMM has basically fought all of the top competition out there.

JMM PPV huge PPV draw shows that he's a fighter in high demand and is highly appreciative of fight fans.

Andre Ward, Nonito Donaire, Cotto, have not brought in the number of PPV's that JMM has brought.
This shows that JMM is in high demand by fight fans.

JMM's last fight against Alvarado drew over 12,000 fans and a high TV ratings.
Fight fans know JMM is a top notch fighter.
