Why didn't he go into the amateurs?
Is it a Mexican thing were they don't do that? Or look down upon that?

I don't understand why he would go into the pro's so early with no amateur experience.

Probably because he wanted to be just like his father.

And no, the amateurs are not looked down upon. Half the boxers turned pro for the money.

JCC Jr should have went to the amateurs, his family had enough money, I can't understand why he wouldn't want to do that!

Exactly, if he does well on PPV, he will continue to headline there.

Btw, Chavez Jr. has appeared on a few PPV's but as an undercard fighter.....his last fight with Ray Sanchez went PPV and him as the headliner because it was considered a big step up in class that Arum decided it merited a PPV date in conjunction with having other popular Latin fighters on the same card.

My guess is that HBO and Showtime wont consider using Chavez Jr. for their non-PPV events until Jr. starts to fight bonafide top 10 fighters and is seriously looked upon as a real contender.

Who would buy this?, this guy has been fighting bums over and over and the saddest part is that people praise him for it. :patsch

The Latino market which is a huge fanbase for boxing, is interested in viewing Jrs. progress.

The Chavez name is recognizeable....."I'd be willing to bet that Chavez Jr. could walk into any boxing gym in the United States and be reconginized by more people than alot of American World title holders.

There is'nt anything sad about it, if you're not interested, dont tune in!:yep

I will be interested when he fights decent opponents, all the guys he fought so far were brought to lose. He lost two fights early in his career but was given gifts, the same way his father did.

The answer to this question is best expressed with another question. Why did George W Bush become president. Why is Hillary running for president? It's the name.

right, but wouldnt it make sense for him to fight on hbo/showtime/FNF to build a bigger name for himself?
